Nandi Hills Ride - Info required

Dear All,

I have planned for a nandi hill ride tomorrow from whitefield along with my foreign colleague.

My friend is little worried about the pollution and traffic after 9 AM. So we plan for a one-side trip and while coming back, by bus/cab.

Please let me know while returning back, can i take the volvo keeping the cycle inside? While the conductor allow to keep the cycle inside?

If they allow, where should i come and stop to board the bus.

Or should i need to book a cab?

Please share ur experiences and give some insights.

are you planning to take siva s route?..
there wouldnt be any pollution issues and no traffic as well.. you can
actually complete the entire trip on your bikes..
directions -- hit KR Puram bridge coming from Old madras road.. keep
going..after the 2nd flyover get onto the service lane on the left
hand side.. you ll see a small board saying devanahalli / airport..
take that route and just keep going.. you ll reach nandi turn..:)

as Deepakvrao has pointed out, the turn is 12 Km from the biug bazaar
road on old airport road. :)

The volvo conductors don't allow to carry bicycles in bus
as suggested take the siva's road
also if possible leave early morning, so that u can enjoy the morning
time in hills

Be at Sivas road start at 6am or so. You should find some roadbikers
going to Nandi. Speeds will be 30-31kmh avg though :)

Bringing your bikes on a Volvo is hit or miss, it is at the driver's discretion. If you do want to try your luck, suggest you ride to airport and try there.

For people who start from South Bangalore, the start of Siva's road is about 37 km, about the same distance as the new airport intersection.So it does not really make a difference , the amount of traffic to endure is roughly same.

Simply awesome!

This trip was organized by me for my German Colleague Dr.Heiko Gerwens. 
So, eventhough i have cycled sometime 6 months back, i had the hope and was very much interested to ride with this cycling enthusiast.

So we started at 05:15 am from SAP Labs and took the outskirts to avoid pollution and traffic.

We reached Nandi base camp at 09:15 am. Then i asked Heiko to climb with his speed not to wait for me. Then i decided not to climb Nandi Hills without a training and also to avoid delay in returning back.

So pooled with a car guy to reach peak and yes Dr.Heiko finished climbing Nandi in just 35 minutes :)

We roamed around the peak of Nandi for sometime and he climbed down(may be in record time), before i reach base camp in auto.

We had yummy breakfast at base camp and then we started at 12:15 pm and then came back in the same route and reached home at 03:40 PM.

Fully satisfied in this cycling trip along with a great cycling enthusiast and a great human Dr.Heiko Gerwens.(He has got five cycles for different purposes in Germany :))

I am sure i have reduced his speed and thats the reason i have asked him to climb alone :)

We saw few riders training for the TFN as well. Waving Haissss and smilessss.

Eventhough  i have done bangalore-chennai trip along with our SAP Roadies-Amol, Venkat and Sathish in 22 hours and also Mysore.....i must accept that i didnt have self discipline to maintain the trainings.

Same is applicable in running also. Without trainings for last 3 months, directly ran 25KM during Ultra in 03:45 hrs.....

Resuming my cycling and running trainings from today onwards! Come what may!
