Hello Everyone,

Just came back from the Road race in Mysore dasara.
It was a 33km ride- Flat surface type,

Many ppl participated. Especially amature cyclists from Bijapur and
Balgalkote and Bangalore Cycling club members(not BBC).
The riders from Bijapur and Baglkote were really good with high end
cycling gear. Mostly CSK, Merida, TREK, Karbana, Bianchi etc.
I got see so many Carbon Frames today i never really thought guys in
bijapur could have them.

Anyway, the guy who finished 1st took 52:36 mins and second was 52:38
and third was 52:39(not very sure)
In Womens Competition, the Lady who finished first took 56:25 mins and
second was 58:+ ..
It was a Fantastic race. Traffic police did the best they could and it
was 95% free of traffic.
There were some 250 ppl in mens category and 50-70 in womens, and
roughly 30% might have finished the race.

There were many flaws in race organisation, because i saw couple of
guys carrying there bikes on a motor bike, not sure they were out of
the race that time already or cheating. and No way to find out if some
one took a alternate route to the final point, and Didnt even start
with others when the race starts.
The jersy numbers were given in advance, so there is no way to know if
someone starts his race close to finish line :)
Over all it was very pleasant experience, and it was great to see so
many serious cycling aspirants, International quality racing gear
(some of them were govt sponsored).

oh by the way i finished in 62:+ mins, on a MTB.

About 50% finished the race the rest were picked up by the sweeper vehicle.

2 senior citizens finished the race and they did it in about 2 hrs on regular single speed vehicles.

The first 6 winners in mens and womens categories will be awarded with cash prizes. 20k, 15k, 10k, 8k, 7k, 5k (www.dasaracycling.in)

The prize distribution will happen tomorrow afternoon.

Here are some photos from todays races.

(at the start and the end of the race taken from my mobile phone). Unfortunately I couldnt take any photos during the race as I was driving a motorbike so that Murali can take photograps on his SLR. He has got tonnes of awesome photos so ask him for more..

the guys who were picked up on motorcycles had falled down down due to a crash while racing and they didn't cross the finish line on bicycles but did it on motorcycles. There were about 25 motorbikes having race marshalls who were taking care of the race under the glare of the media so very slim chances of cheating unless the entire organising team had conspired to do so.

There is a very detailed documentation by media ppl as well as the race organizers both at the start point and the end point and I can say that the people who finished in the first peleton were surely there at the start line.

On another note there were many participants who had come with the regular roadsters that were doled to schools without the carriers and mudguards and did amazingly well on the short course.

They were many local kids who tried their luck on their MTBs/DTBs and surely had fun.

oh by the way i finished in 62:+ mins, on a MTB.

Nice effort dude. There was also Naveen another cyclist from BBC who completed the race.

Thanks to wheelsports :-)

Bangalore cycling club is the team run by Venkatesh of Wheelsports.in

The no. of Meriads in the race were just mind boggling. Venkatesh do you have a branch of Wheelsports in Bijapur?

in the top 6 on the mens race 4 of them were from Bangalore cycling club.

Kudos to Venkatesh and his team.

Attached Pic shows Sri R H Pujai, Vice President, Karnataka State Cycling Association (person with a Merida cap) along with the winners (2nd - 6th) and another official.

The other pic shows the winners of womens cycling competition. L-R winners 1-6 places.

The last pic shows the winner of the mens race.  The champion of Dasara 09.
