Hi Everyone,

I went for a ride around Bangalore today, on my way back I thought of going to Big Bazaar to buy some things. To my surprise, I wasn't allowed to park my bike in the parking lot. The security people didn't allow me to enter the premises with my bike, instead he told me to park the bike in the street if I wanted to shop in Big Bazaar!!

I want to ask you guys if other malls like Forum, Garuda, etc allow cycle parking or not? Or is it only Big Bazaar that doesn't?

I wouldn't want to be turned away when I go to PVR for a movie in my bike.

No this is unique. The other malls they usually ostracize u and ask u to park it in some shady nook. You may want to put this issue on Praja's link for biking issues.

some folks had put together some of their parking-allowed places :)

I have added a parking-not-allowed section. With Big Bazaar in it.
at some point, if someone feels like doing something about this - take one name off the list and figure out how to contact the higherups.

In most places Im sure its not the intent to keep the bicyclists out - just that the security guards create their own rules to those rules which have not been explicitly written down for them. So might as well make bicycle-parking-allowed explicit.

Forum does not allow bicycle parking. I guess its because there's no
registration number on cycles.

the no-registration-number-no-parking seems kinda nuts :)

I had gone to BangaloreClub sometime back, and they did not allow me cause I was wearing a T Shirt (read - no Collars). So I made paper collars on the fly n got in :)

So .... time to make some on the fly registration-number-plates n get the bike in. hehe.

I think forum allows bikes in their overflow parking. Coming from Koramangala side (that's the side that's NOT @home side), you continue past Prestige Necropolis and turn left. Never verified this, but overheard somewhere.

Forum they have a additional parking - sunshine something close to the prestige acropolis a little further up on Hosur rd (about 300 mtrs from forum). They ask bikers to the bikes there for reasons best known to them! :)

In today's Deccan Herald there's an article about how a senior
journalist wasn't allowed into a large hotel because he was on a
cycle ... It's titled 'Cycle Power' and it's on the 2nd page.
He apparently kicked their ass with a deadly dialogue.

More power to his pedals i say!

Out of curiosity, anyone know how bikes are treated at 'big hotels' in the developed world?

And in India? I know Leela on old airport road doesn't allow bikes, but they don't let motorbikes in either.
