Hey all !

I am new to Bangalore and to cycling. Bought a cycle after seeing a lot of cyclist population here. I do medium level cycling (11 km everyday to work and back). Loving it so far...

Me and my friends stay in Kundalahalli and want to take a trip to Nandi hills on bicycle. The distance is ~67 km, which is a lot. The bigger problem I have is getting out of the city and riding through the traffic.

Any suggestions on how we could transport my cycle to a place fairly on the outskirts. Or just skip the idea and rent a bike from place nearer to Nandi hills?

Please suggest!!

Thanks
Omkar

Simple. From kundalahalli go towards whitefield station. Cross the flyover and continue towards budigere cross. Then take the state highway towards devanahalli. Then take right turn on the NH and continue for few kms then take left diversion towards Nandi base. Road will empty and less undulated. Check map for clarity.

thank you & regards

The route via Budigere is a good one. There will be some traffic on certain sections, but not as bad as city traffic.

But more importantly -- what is the longest distance you've done so far in a day? Your ride to Nandi will be ~140km (unless you drive part of the way, to avoid city traffic)? Might want to do some 50-100km rides first. Note that the ~8km Nandi climb can take a lot out of you.

You can join us on Nandi Hills ride from Kannamangala - Whitefield (Near Sai baba Ashram) and return.....its about 110 km......Whitefield > Hosakote > Sullibelle > Devanhalli > Nandi Hills and return the same route....I suggest you first do regular 50-60 kms, maybe once / twice a week and then attempt 100+ km. Also Nandi Hills can be Grade 2 - 3 climbs so it best to practice easy....Jaideep
