Hi Vageesh,

I'm taking a dig here and this goes for all those who just post one liner questions without doing any research of their own and not ONLY to you specifically.

It would be nicer if you had done some research on your own or even used the search button. A simple google search landed me at so many results. We would (Atleast I would) much appreciate if this question had been...

"I'm planning to buy a bicycle rack for my swift ...my budget is around 5k. I searched around this forum, xyz forum, asked my friend, visited a few shops and I see that I have the choices for me are 1. 2. 3. bike racks. I have blah blah bike and I'm planning to use it for .... purposes. I am leaning towards 2. because of reason 1,2 and 3. Can you guys let me know your suggestions?" instead of a one liner question suggesting we do all the research for something you are going to buy.

That said, I think the BSA rack fits in perfectly in your budget, suits both hatchbacks and sedans alike and its available at RR cycles and TracknTrail outlets. On a relatively long drive (>300km) we found that the bsa rack held up pretty well compared to a more expensive name brand rack on another car. I guess a lot of importance must be placed on correct usage as well. Thule racks (freeway series?) are available for 6k and upwards *I think* and are available with Sachin at Pedalsandwheels.

Regards,
Shankar

The high-mount BNB rack is available from RR Intl, Madiwala for 4K.

I tried to find the high-mount BSA rack at several cycle showrooms (RR, BSA T&T multiple branches), but none of them had it, although they did have the 2.5K low-mount one. As Shankar wrote, if you do a search on BBC archives, you'd see some very recent discussions on this topic, and also see that there are few (3-4, if my count is right) happy owners of BSA's cycle rack.

Get the BSA Rack. Here is a pic with 3 MTBs 4300,3700 and RR5.1 on the rear. This is a pic when I reached the race start on Sunday. You need to put it alot of effort to tighten the straps and be careful on bumps and speed breakers which loosens the straps.

Shankar- Is it your pic?

The second pic is with the BnB rack borrowed from Rohan for the Kalhatty climb. It held the bikes very well for the whole journey.
We had 3 bikes on the rack and 3 in the boot.

Hi,

A question regarding the BSA rack. I used to use it regularly on my Alto (earlier car) and it worked well. But my current car is a Chevy Beat LT which comes with a rear spoiler. I have not used the rack on this for fear of it damaging the spoiler with the load of the bikes. It there anybody out there who has used this rack on a beat? Does the spoiler hold up or is there some other work around?

Cheers!

As per the design of any bike rack the max of load at all times should fall on the bottom swing arm (which rests on the number plate extension) and not the upper arm. My friend bought one for his esteem with rear air spoiler and it works fine.
