Hi friends..

Cubbon Park session report for 6 August 2023

Shankar, the early bird ( at Cubbon at 6.30 AM !) with Ronak and other Marwadi friends helped out with the bicycles  Katraj gang came little later, after a long hiatus.

Trainers: 4
Ali, Parag, Junaid, Naga Prakash

Newbies:10+1
Akshay, Anju, (Adhya), Gayathri, Komaldevi, Manya, Rajani, Ritu, Reena, Ruchita, Sonu

Avaneeta, Nighat, Ningappa, Nivetha, Priyanka, Ranjitha, Shankar, Sharath, Shaswath, Shwetha, Siddu, Simran, Urmila

Trainee : Harish

Hello :
Krishna

I seem to be getting comfortable teaching  certain manuvers and had Akshay, Ritu and Reena as attentive students to start with, showing initial resting position, braking, balancing and scooting, before passing to other trainers as well as Harish who took over Ritu's lesson. Also assign and maximise saddle time for waiting students by rotating cycles.
Seniors were great bunch and we had about 6 rental cycles too, which they generously shared with others.

Komaldevi has driven two wheelers and was able to balance but could not hold a steady grip on the pedals with or without the footwear. She has promised to do some stationary cycle riding in BBMP park nearby.
Showed half pedalling too for upslope ride to some students.

Parag's report

She has never cycled before, but in a couple of rounds, she had mastered scooting, and then went on to do pedaling up and down, and even started with turning. One of the fastest learners we had till now. Her daughter Adya also did a race with her towards the end.
Adhya- Managed to cycle down and up comfortably on her own bike, but the brakes were a bit hard for her, she will get them fixed for next Sundays session.

Seniors
Ranjitha - Did zig zags and some turning.

Begur : Trainer Ganesh
Learner 3, Trainer 1
Amrita - Coming back after a while to practice. Brought her bike with both tyres almost fully deflated. Though she can ride straight lines on her own. Her rustiness showed. She took turns to practice balancing and get comfortable with traffic.
Rinaaz - She is now at a point to learn circles and turns (not possible at Begur). Quite consistent and comfortable now with start, stop and riding straight. She still needs better understanding of traffic flows to venture into road on her own.
Abhinav - (Hope I got the name right): The youngest learner so far at Begur (5 yo). Parents brought him and his tiny bike to learn. Not surprisingly, he was interested in everything around including the screw holding the bell except being focused on balancing :) Had a good time making him ride around which he wanted to very much racing with motor bikes. I hope to learn more and improve next week to work with him... :)

Begur 20 Aug : Trainer Ganesh : Delayed by 15 mnts fixing the saddle issue (apologies for that and missing to take pics)
Learners 4 , Trainer 1
Newbies
Shiwani Thakur: Great Day-1 effort. Need to control jerky movements that is throwing her off balance. Pedalling is a bit of a challenge where she looses her footing and lift it off for some reason. With both of these under control, she will be able to see some great progress
Kamini R : Started scooting for a bit and as she progressed to pedaling we found a bit of a timing issue with her left leg taking off and landing on the ground. Due to this, she took 3 falls to her side, the last I counted. It is only at the 2nd that we figured what could be it. (In the bustle of efforts to understand the falls I forgot to click the customary selfie of the day)Safe, sound and wonderfully back on her foot, Kamini kept trying without giving up. Great learning spirit.
Ongoing Learners
Arpita Chatterjee : Came with her own bike. She has done a couple of classes at Cubon, scooting. Starting with scooting, Arpita started riding fully balanced largely by herself today, a great show of perseverance. Need to work on stronger legs and start correcting posture and more. However, good job for the day with consistently being able to ride unsupported.
Amrita : Rolled in her bike and practiced through the session. Thanks for sharing the bike with other learners too during breaks. A bit stiff and intermittently wobbly, maybe a little short of confidence. Regular practice should help her get out of it.
(Respects to her ma-in-law who accompanies her every session and watches entire session standing in one place, eager to learn herself. Hoping for the opportunity soon.)

Begur 3 Sept : Trainer Ganesh , Dimpu
Learners 3 , Trainer 2
Ongoing Learners
Arpita Chatterjee:
Well paced and balanced straight lines. We worked on improving graceful stops. Given her ability to ride straight lines well and availability of safe zones in her campus, we showed how to start with learning to go in circles.
Reccomended Arpita to sign-up for Cubbon next week so that she can start with turns and hand signalling at the hands of experts in safer zone.
PRAMOD D M :
Good improvement. He is able to ride unsupported now which he must be happy about. Quite some corrections required for stability (range of vision, speed control, pedalling). He has a rare issue of applying more strength than required and shooting off balance as a result. One at a a time, in weeks to follow.
Shiwani Thakur: (report by Dimpu)
Shivani is really keen to learn cycling. The following are the observations made during the training.
1. Her upper body needs to be a bit flexible as she starts pedalling.
2. She is good in balancing in an average speed but loses the grip as the speed reduces
3. Neds to learn braking and stopping , stops abruptly with lot of fear
4. She is scared of pedestrian and vehicle movement, which makes her lose balance.
Overall she is showing lot of interest in correcting her posture and balance. It's a long way to go.
Cubbon Park-3 Sept 2023 . Cool and Breezy day with some rain to start with, and bright sunshine later.
Trainers 6 - Ali, Krishna, Junaid , Naga Prakash,Harish, Parag
Newbies
Manasi - A software engineer, and new Bangalorean, she spent some time on static balancing and scooting, and later she moved on to pedaling. There is still a bit of a lurch, but by next session she should be able to pedal properly.
Rita - A house wife came for her first class along with her husband and son. the family came all the way from Hosur. Started with scooting.
Anagya: Youngest learner of today, came with her parents and spent some time on Habibas cycle.
Shakuntala - is a new student. Registered. Came in at the closing time. Krishna spoke to her a bit of balance and let her scoot on the scooting bike. She is able to pick up fairly well.
Ongoing Learners
Aman : Practiced one handed riding, and did it with one hand, but streuggled with the otehr hand.
Akshay: Did riding one handed and startd on signaling.
Bharti:Came on her Rockrider, practiced turning with signaling, ans alsosafe stopping.
Ningappa: Practiced one handed riding, but has an injury on one hand so struggled a bit with that. Planning to ride from Bidadi to Cubbon soon.
Mranalini: Remarkably dedicated to learning, she is Visiting from Pune, and comes regularly all the way from Whitefield. She is able to do turning and zig zags. She learnt safe mounting, hands free resting, dismounting and half pedaling. We hope she takes up BBS-Pune when she gets back.
Rajani: Mastered zig zags today, and started on turning. Also did a bit of half pedaling.
Dr. Kamalini : Although riding on the road fairly well, is not confident of signalling and lane changing and loses direction. Needs to build up sufficient power.
