I hear they have another store in bannergatta road..I know the
bannergatta store is smaller than the sarjapur one..it is not much of
a concern to me,but its 10km closer than the sarjapur store from my
place..So I just want to know people's experience in the bannerghatta
store..

Also, are the collection and prices same in both the places??

And what about their bicycle servicing..planning to get my first bike
service done there..

There were a lot of threads on bike servicing recently. Apparently all bike shops in Bangalore suck at servicing :P

So, moral of the story? Learn to do it yourself.

Hi,
I've read a lot on this forum and it's clear in my mind I need to service my bike myself.
How do I start?
I watched a few videos on youtube, did a few things myself. Some things worked the way they should've, some didnt.
If anyone is servicing his bike this weekend on his own, someone who has been doing that on a regular basis, I would like to learn from that person how to self-service your bike.
If someone is planning to service his bike this weekend please let me know.
What do you get in return?
1. Unlimited help in servicing your bike.
2. I can treat you for a lunch the same day. I think learning to take care of your bike is work at least this :)

Do the stores like BOTS etc. conduct some classes on bike servicing? I'm fine paying for those classes.

Thanks

Collection is actually much better for a cyclist I felt in Bannerghatta road. For other sports I'm not sure. Prices are the same.

As far as servicing goes, most suck. But I don't prefer DIY for servicing especially after the bike has done 4k odd kms. So I give servicing to Rafiq in Jayanth Cycles, Jayanagar. He does an awesome job.

Initially, I found it hard to believe that in the 9 million people in Bangalore some folks cant find a single bike mechanic who's good enough... I'm all for DIY and self-reliance, but think about it - in automobiles, most of the money dealers make is in service. But then, since OEM connections are weaker here, investing in tooling / skills / stocking parts will be a challenge, and only a small slice of customers will recognise (and pay for) the difference from the roadside mechanic. I suspect there isnt critical mass at the high end of the cycle market to support more than 3-4 workshops across the city. Wide range of brands, models, and not enough of each to stock spares for anything.

So if you have a good bike mechanic, moderate your asks and treat the guy with lots of respect - else roll up your sleeves and get to work...
