The BangaloreBrevets launch ride was also the launch of randonneuring into the vocabulary of Bangalore Bikers.

With folks like Venkat going to Chennai and Dipankar and Akshay doing a chilled out 400km sunday ride, all on a bicycle, we are definitely on track to make Bangalore the Randonneuring capital of India!

To celebrate this we have some nice looking finisher medals and certificates for bikers who managed to finish the first 200km brevet in Bangalore.
Have attached an image of how you would look wearing the medal and the certificate :)

The Medals and Certificates will be handed out at the year end BBCh race. Its on the 19th of Dec. More details about the BBCh race on a separate email.

A big thanks to everyone who turned out.
While the destination of 200km was important, the journey of getting a lot of enthusiastic bikers to join us launch this was equally important.

About 200 bikers showed up at 5:45am on a cold Sunday morning.
Of these about 60 reached the 100km mark on time and almost all of those returned. A couple dropped out because of mechanical failures.

Fantastic stuff

~ the BangaloreBrevet team
ps: do head over to the BangalorBrevets website and sign up for all those lovely long rides we have coming up in 2011.
pps: please train hard. Riding at this level requires a ton of endurance and a loads of mental training.

So was this actually a Brevet? I thought it was only a Brevet Launch
Ride! I thought the first Brevet was only in Jan.

Nice certificate, BTW.

This was not a 'real' brevet... So the medals are not kissed by the ACP :)

That's what I thought, Sud. But Rohan mentions 'for bikers that finished the first 200km brevet'. That's why I wanted to check.

There is always a 'real brevet' coming up where you get the medal
'kissed' by ACP! :)

How can one get the cert/medal if not participating in the BBCh race on 19th?

hehe .. this is one way to ensure everyone comes for the BBCh ;)
Come on folks, last race of the year. Folks here have tried real hard to have it as close to the city as possible (IISC).

Its gonna be fast and hopefully loads of fun ! Should get over by 10am max

If you really cannot come (like some on TfN) you can pick em up from BOTS or if your too lazy we could courier it over to you ( you pay for the courier ~25 bucks :D )

hey hey hey .. this was a Brevet :)

Brevet or Brevet de Randonneur is an organised long-distance bicycle ride in the sport of randonneuring

This was organized.
It was kinda long distance
it was a bicycle ride
and it was sport :)

No one kissed the medal though. Atleast not yet ! :)

Rohan,

I don't know what is BBCh (have seen that acronym here a lot, I know
only BBC!!) From what you are saying sounds like I could just come (to
IISc?) and join the race (or just ride :))? In that case, why not?
After all, it is a Sunday morning :)

Thanks,

May be its time to volunteer some time to fix the standings table? Its a community event.

The Vit M box is used to get stuff moving for a race - petrol costs for a recce, water, glucose, banners, posters, stuff that volunteers have bought on race day etc. Most of the time it does not even cover the cost of a race.
http://www.bangalorebicyclechampionships.com/inside-bbch/vitamin-m/ (even this has not really been updated after may cause we dont have enough folks to help out here)

Peoples time is even more valuable - we have a lot of folks who unselfishly spend time setting up the site, sacrificing quality weekend time on recces, on timing events, running around and organizing a race (and a ton more).

BBCh has not missed a SINGLE race in the last 2 years - and its all because of folks who have spent time at this.
And its a pretty phenomenal achievement. Anyone who has every organized any sort of event will tell you the same !

Its very simple actually - if you feel something is broken, help fix it. Dont wait for others to do it.
