LOL Opendro, good one. Ban him.
Best wishes to all who are attempting this Master brevet.
Rgds,
Nalla.
Haha. Pradeep, hard luck. But, unable to fix puncture. You are banned from this group for one month! Lol
Hahaha.. No guys I know how to fix a flat.
Here's the story..
Till yesterday mid morning I didn't have a bike to ride. Was really busy with work and couldn't find time to finalise on the bike.
Chetan from cadence 90 helped me with his bike. Marine hybrid.
I saw him riding with gel seat cover.....the only cyclist whom i have seen at the starting of a 1000 kms with that.
Just curious to know whose idea it was whether the store's or yours!?
What was the logic for using it?

Hehehe.. Go on sir go on... It's your return now.. In fact it was a horrible idea to have a gel cover. I realised when it started itching ask over the place. Took it off and rode...
Now with experience down there I can say. Never use gel covers..![]()
Rushit,
Just now saw an update from Silvester on Strava. Looks like he has stopped at Davanagere 305 kms.
hey what status on silvester… all the best to everyone....

Ramesh called and indicated he might not make it to Hubli in time but wants to try and complete the route nevertheless. The wind is in total control. He is still 100km from Hubli. Shreyas is even farther behind

Ashok approaching Hubli
Awesome. He will breeze through the rest of the journey now (assuming he does not use the online bud booking app).
I think Shreyas has his task cut out

600 was a all CW affair. Organiser rode with the riders for 50km+
Soma and Ashok missed Belgaum control. They are riding back now.

Congratulations Anup. Tough luck Somas and Ashok. Though you didn't complete the full distance, you rode back 400+ with the knowledge that you have missed the official timeline, not catch bus. Hats off. That is true spirit.
Hearty Congrats Anup.
Fantastic spirit Ashok and Soma.
Great effort soma & ashok
Chiddu, this is epic 😂😂

Ashok,
I am quite curious to know what did not go well this time, you are at your peak fitness, as far as I know.
Correct me if I am wrong this was your 6th attempt (2 1200 kms 4 1000 kms). Completed successfully 3 times earlier and all the 3 times you were riding trek 7100 hybrid. This was your first attempt on a road bike. You were known for riding non stop 4 to 5 hrs without stop at a stretch.
How much road bike helped you this time or didn't? How frequently you were taking breaks? Would more relaxed posture on your road bike would have helped you? Compared to your earlier bike this one was better in every aspect.
Would love to hear from you and looking forward to read a ride report that also touching upon these aspects.
thanks everyone for the wishes .opendro, sohan , i was keeping your suggestions in mind while riding , thanksit was almost a solo ride for 900 odd kms .i met ashok and somas only at 650th km where they were ripping at 35-40kmph . i could barely keep pace with them .we also met gana and putta at 750th km .ashok and soma took off near chitradurga where i had to go inside city for atm slipsnow in office . will write more on experience laterregardsanup

Here is the twist......
1.
Marine bikes require a special allen key to remove the tire and Chetan forgot to give that to me. >> This sucks :P
2. It had a scrada tube. >> two options, stop a truck and try to use their compressor in case you needed to fill air, Usually mini pumps have the presta/ scrader unless you've got a pump that doesn't have an adaptor.
3. I carried a presta pump only for road bikes and two presta tubes. >> I too had a presta only pump but you can covert it to a schrader valve by cutting the top 1-2mm off a valve cap to make it work like a scrader adaptor (local jugaad). Or BOTS i believe has a valve adapter which lets you convert presta to schrader. http://store.bumsonthesaddle.com/products/kool-stop-valve-adaptor :) I carry one in with me in the saddle bag and it did come to help for my commuter as i topped up using the conventional motorized pumps in the puncture repair shop.
4. And no tire liners on these...😞 >> I'd say highly recommended for the long rides.
