Ride report : Shimoga - Sagar- Kollur - Agumbe - Mangalore Trip

myself , Ravi , Ashish , Navdeep , Sriram and Gaurav did this ride.
Here is a summary of trip

14 Aug
-----------
Bangalore to Shimoga by train.

15 Aug
------------
Shimoga to Sagar
Distance : 76 KM
Start time : 8.30 AM
End Time : 2.30 PM

it was raining all the way, but not heavy rain. rain suits are useless
for long rides.
Went to Jog falls by bus

16 Aug
---------------
Sagar - Holebagilu - Sigandur - Kollur
Distance : 85 KM
Start time : 8.00 AM
End Time : 7.30 PM

roads are decent here. Ashish had a fall on the way to Holebagilu and
rim got badly damaged. Navdeep fixed it within 30 mins! we crossed the
reservoir in the barge and reached Sigandur. lots of trails around
this area.
it was totally dark when we were doing the 15 KM downhill to Kollur.

17 Aug
-----------
Kollur - Shankarnarayana - Someshwara - Agumbe
Distance : 93 KM
Start time : 8.00 AM
End Time : 5 PM

yet another beautiful day. No rain. 10 KM climb to Agumbe was awesome.
Sriram was the fastest!
We stayed at Doddamane (home stay), this is where 'Malgudi days' was
shot.
It was one of my best experience. Ajji took great care of us.

18 Aug
-----------
Agumbe - Someshwara - Karkal - Moodbidri - Mangalore
Distance : 115 KM
Start time : 10 AM
End Time : 6 PM

We went to Agumbe forest research institute and met the team of Mr.
Gaurishankar. got lots of gyan on king cobra.
it was hot and humid all the way. and there is no downhill till you
reach mangalore :(

Total Distance : 369 KM

came back by KSRTC volvo bus.

It was amazing fun with the gang. we laughed more than we cycled. it
was a non stop entertainment.

Had one hell of a time during this trip! The route itself is very scenic and hardly any vehicles at most places.Like Mallik mentioned, we were either cycling or laughing :)

for anyone with a business interest ... why not organise bike trails
for various categories of fitness/luxury..i dont know of any in
karnataka or is there anyoutfit which does it ?
i am sure i would sign up for a significantly more gentle five day
bike tour

Target fared well.
i will say as good as 3700 or 4300.
but then.. we still don't know exactly, where Target stands vis-a-vis 3700, 4300 as bikes were not really pushed to limits.
None of Treks or Target had any kind of breakdown.

oh .. yes.. we had great time.
It was either pouring rain or Jokes :)
