Ride to Anchetty - Feb 25

Hi,

We are a small group of riders who are  planning a ride on the (in)famous anchetty brevet route. We will have a support car with a bike rack to provide some basic support. It is expected to be an all day ride, starting around 4:30 am and finishing by evening.

I've been wanting to ride to Anchetty for a while, but I prefer the Maralwadi - Kadushivanahalli - Hunsanahalli - Anchetti route (This route goes via Maralwadi - Thally - Jawalagiri - Karadikal - Anchetty) .

When are you planning to go?

We have around 7 people that are joining. Others are also welcome to come along. Just show up at one of the meet points. The tentative plan is

430 meet at Merida junction Orr kanakpura road

5:00 flag off

6:30 harohalli last chance for meeting

We plan to be back by late afternoon early evening.

Hello Jagan, i want to join but still  tentative. Can this route be done on road bike. I am not a fast rider as well. Max 22-23 avg on long rides. I dont want to slow you guys.

We're all on MTB and hybrid. I think it can be done on a road bike as we're mainly going on designated roads. We have no idea about the condition though

It can be done on road bike....

Have done it on Fixie with 23c tyres.

Its actually quite road bikeable even though there might be some bad sections. But the roads won't be smooth.
But the road towards Thally tends to be bad(not sure if it is okay now). Watch out for the blind turns downhill. You can pick up serious speed and go out of control

It was a good ride, ultimately 4 of us showed up. The road conditions were good in most places but between Thally and Jawalagiri they were relaying and hence we had to push our bikes in many places. We ultimately finished at Anchetty around 1. We drove back from there as most of us weren't feeling up to riding back in the heat

Did this ride solo. I had not communicated my ride plan to the group since I was not sure of riding.
Started little early, at 4:45am was at KSIT. Hoping to join the group en route dint go to Merida Junction.
Reached Harohalli at 6:15am had breakfast, waited for a while, dint see the group and continued the ride hoping to join the group en route.
Reached Thally at 9:15am, had breakfast again, could not see trace of the group and decided to do it solo. Reached Anchetty at 12:30pm.
Had lunchand continued my ride. After the mega climb stopped and had a good nap (around 1hr). Continued my ride.
After a while met the group. They were on their way back. Stopped for a while and discussed about the ride and they went off wishing me good luck.
Since I was riding after a long gap (six months) I took 16hrs to finish this ride (189km)
Thanks Jagan for initiating this ride. My long pending plan of doing Anchetty ride was accomplished.

Road Condtion : Fairly good. Therubeedi to Thally road work going on but road is smooth, around 100-200 meters need to walk.
Hosur to Attibele again road work going on need to walk for around 100 meters

Nice. BTW, this is the toughest 200k brevet route in Bangalore, probably in India. Next would be the Basavanabetta 200k (from my memories of old discussion).
