I used NightRider Mako 150 (I think you now get 200 lumens) for both
Mandya night brevet and 400km brevet. Lasted all night long on a
single pair of AA batteries (I use Eneloop). Mako is sold along with a
rear light (Cherrybomb), which is also quite good (but I haven't used
that one).

You should get it in BOTS online or at the store.

I use the mako 150 lumens for my long rides & evening commute as well. Bought this thro cycling boutique online store. Got a cherrybomb powerful rest light along with this.  Find both of them highly effective.
You may write to biju in Cc to find out pricing on latest stock

If you're looking at some REALLY bright lights (upwards of 1000lumens), look up bicycle lights on eBay.com

I just ordered this -> http://goo.gl/SpEQ8B

Roughly converts to less than Rs.1100 and takes about 40 days for delivery. One of my friend had bought this few months back and no issues whatsoever. This prompted me to buy one for myself.

Hope this helped.

I am using both . . . NightRider Mako 150 and 200 lumens . . . Both are very powerful lights. Go for it.

Mako 150 is more than enough for one full night ride.

Thanks and Regards,

I use cateye volt 300 with extra battery cartridge. Initial output is around 350 lumen, later it saturates around 300 lumen(brightest mode). Very durable metal design(120 gram), weather proof, USB rechargeable, excellent battery life (3hr on max,60hr flashing,18hr low). I got it for 4300 inr in RR cycles with extra battery cartridge(doubles the runtime) and separate charging dock. Here are some of reviews if you are interested...  http://road.cc/content/review/108798-cateye-volt-300-front-light

Hi All,

I have light of 3600 Lumen!

This is very cheap compared to Indian websites.

You can order from India.

Cheers,
Avinash

You can buy this complete set:

https://dx.com/p/ultrafire-503b-cree-xm-l-t6-860lm-5-mode-white-zooming-flashlight-black-1-x-18650-2-x-cr123a-192004
https://dx.com/p/ultrafire-protected-18650-3-7v-2600mah-lithium-batteries-red-2-battry-pack-28677
https://dx.com/p/ultrafire-3-6-3-7v-battery-charger-1251
https://dx.com/p/universal-bicycle-mount-for-flashlights-and-gadgets-2cm-3cm-diameter-adjustable-15642

The ultrafire I currently have was rated 850 lumen and I'm sure it is not 850. But it is darn bright.

I do my brevets in mode 3 which lasts for about 13 hours on one battery. It lasts for 4 hours in mode 2. Mode 1 is a waste - it heats up, not so brighter than mode 2 and lasts for only 90 minutes.

The light creates a nice spread out spot and in mode 2, we can comfortably reach 35 kmph. Mode 3 is typical brevet mode - max 25 kmph on good roads.

Thanks Opendro for this suggestion. Ordered these on Nov15. The battery+charger and mount came on Dec2 and the torch on Dec4. One of the batteries came fully charged (showed 3.5V) and the other came fully discharged (showed 0.1V). No problems after the initial charging, though.

I don't think I will do all-night brevets anytime soon, but I think these are good value for money for commute and will be handy while camping too.

Regards
George

If you also bought the holder, you insert a cut piece of hybrid tube (35 to 42 mm) onto the flash so that you don't have to manage a rubber padding bush in the holder. That holds very snugly in all riding conditions.
