Hi all, how do you want to go about reacting to the comments? And what are we answering Celia re. a call?

Team,

Great work on the first draft. A handful of additional points (some mine, some adding to Celia's):

  • The case should be written in past tense. It occurs at a moment in time (2013) and so everything is either past or future. This will allow teaching it in, let's say 2015, and it still working.
  • My aim for text is 10-12 pages with the exhibits going longer (students can spend as much or as little time on those). That will require a bit of cutting as the commerce initiative is explained. Some of the history can get streamlined. There is also a bit of repetition on scaling so that can get adjusted too.
  • I agree about the story elements. Set up the dilemma at the beginning (how to scale a social business attacking a valuable cause) and then tell the story of how Akshaya Patra is struggling with it. Quotes are great if you can add more.

Let me know if you have specific questions. You're making great progress.

Best,

Brad

Hi I think all her comments and those of Brad make sense. I don't have any additional questions for them right now. So think we can just reply thanking them for input unless anyone has any follow up questions.

When is the final deadline? What we could suggest to Celia is do some more work to it and then have a call later this week say two days before final deadline if she's happy to do that... What do you think?

I'm in Holland this weekend for a stag party with no laptop so not much use but have time again on Monday night and the rest of the week.

Steve don't have an old course report I think, anyone else?

Thanks
Rutger

Ok I'll get back to her in that in a bit.

We need to decide how to distribute the work... Her comments involve quite a bit of rewriting which was assumed anyway. I'll see how much I can get done today (my folks are here) and tomorrow and send to you Monday evening Rutger?

Can someone create the tables?

Steve, no, there are no sample course reports!

Hi guys

I am available any day to have a call and agree on the story. I think we can agree on a frame of a story that has main characters for instance those can be venket, vinay and ajay... The three could be in a meeting discussing the strategy with the rest of leadership team. More quotes on funding could come from Ajay, quotes on ops from Vinay..

Two of my fav case studies are Massachusetts Financial Services taught in Demo and the tooth paste/brushes case study taught in Marketing class. Both summarize the dilemma in first half page. Also, quotes could be as long as one paragraph. We can use recordings to set the scene or decribe a challenge.

Let me know when youre free for a call. Not much time left till the 30th

Looks good. On challenges I would include the fact that pre-trip all the different time zones means it's quite difficult to really plan and coordinate as a group. It's also quite difficult to plan accordingly with the company in Bangalore in terms of exact plan/timelines for that week so I would say there's no point really in asking students for their detailed plans for logistics/taxi etc 4 weeks in advance.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Thanks,
Rutger
