Hello all,

I hope you all are well. I am writing to ask for your support in conducting a Peace March in the name of the recent events in Gaza. Speaking on a personal level, I have family friends here in Fargo who are being directly affected by the events in Gaza as their family (Mother, Father, siblings) is witnessing the bombings and killings first hand. Another close friend of mine writes about her conversation with her family in Gaza:

7/23: Update from my family in Gaza. Their voices changed; weak, unsure. "7 more neighbors killed yesterday; maybe 50 in the strip. An entire family was killed in their sleep as their house was bombed. We have no electricity since yesterday; the main power grid was hit. Each day they wait for sunset to attack. Can you believe it! They know it's Ramadan and we are fasting! People don't have time to eat or drink; and fighting starts. No mercy. Fewer people go to pray Taraweeh as mosques are being bombed too." My uncle heard my voice quiver and he simply chuckled "hey, we are still alive."

Every day I pray I can speak to them again.

With each day the situation seems to be escalating, I personally feel guilty that I am not doing the best I can to protest the injustice. In this Holy month of Ramadan, Muslims are engaged in prayer and devotion, yet our brothers and sisters in Gaza are unable to do so peacefully as they fear for their lives day by day. It is not about religion anymore, however. There are Christian and Jewish brothers and sisters lives' being claimed in the process. This is about injustice.

I, for one, condemn the violence in Gaza, particularly the killings of innocent women and children. I know I am not alone, as there are protests world wide now, as anyone following world events will know. Those who condemn the violence and injustice against Palestinians should stand up and make their be voice heard, which is why we should hold an event to do exactly that.

I am proposing an emergency Peace March to be held soon. I ask that anyone who supports Palestinians and condemns the injustice in Gaza join together in a public place (I was thinking Island Park) with signs/posters so the public can see and hear our voice.

I am already in talks with the news/media, law enforcement, and other local groups to help endorse this event and to assist in making this happen. The message would be better received if we have several groups working together.

Please email me back if you would like to take part in making this happen and/or if you support this cause. Also please include names of people or organizations that you feel would like to take part in this as well. I will update you soon to provide more details about when, where, etc. Thank you.
