01. Happy Eid Mubarak for Moslems around the world!
The researchers and staffs of the Bandung Fe Institute conveys the silaturahmi and peace greetings for all moslems around the world after fasting a full month of Ramadhan 1433H. May the peace we learn in a good month of Ramadhan brings energy for more productive and creative collaborative and interdisciplinary works on science and the sharpening of public policies through complexity studies.
02. The President of the Institute as an Ashoka Fellow
Hokky Situngkir, the researcher and the current president of the institute, has been decided to be an Ashoka Fellow. As other fellows, the committee of the selection in Ashoka have considered that the president of the institute to be a figure of leading social enterpreneur for innovative solutions to social problems and the potential change patterns across society. Ashoka: innovators for the public is a non-profit organization supporting the field of social enterpreneurship based in Arlington, VA, United States of America.

The statement mentions that the president of the institute is engaging the Indonesian populace in uncovering, valuing, and using its diverse cultural knowledge. The leading role in the institute for application of scientific objectivity to build a shared national cultural narrative and make its value accessible to all, is the argument for electing Hokky Situngkir to be the Ashoka Fellow.

03. The Institute in 104 highlited Innovations in Indonesia
The institute has participated in the RITECH EXPO 2012, August 8th-11th, 2012, a national expo held by the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, for chosen innovations all of the country in the last five years. The institute’s research works to be awarded as one of important innovations in the country is the computational transformation of institutional’s logo in to geometric representation of Indonesian traditional batik.

In their statement, the reviewers highlights the interest of public for the transformation of the values within a logo to be captured in a batik geometric design. This innovation is due to the research of the institute entitled the “physics of batik”. The “blend” of modern values of a company with the valuable traditional crafts in Indonesian archipelago.
