Chahta Tribe" is not a federally recognized tribe. They aren't part of the federally recognized Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Jena Band of Choctaw Indians, or Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
I think Ms. Gillum could start a heritage interest/community group. Folks could research their genealogy & history without making any false claims.
I don't think calling herself a Queen Chief of an invented "tribe" is the right way to go, I think it is disrespectful.
I was going to the same exact thing...my grandmother is descendant of the chahta (so I guess that make me too) ..when I came to know I immediately began to do my research on everything ,and in addiction to what you stated about color and native mixing another reason why the government doesn't want to recognize us is because our ancestors were part of helping the slaves free (&marrying as well as having children with each other) and of course that doesn't go over well too much with politics and the way things were back then ... I sorta feel as you expressed while I know I can get a card I'm not too much concerned with because I know who I am and that is what's most important too me for the simple fact that my future children too will know. If there's is anymore that you have too offer as far as knowledge please share
Kevin Pietersen, whose heroic knock of 186 played a huge part in England's thumping 10-wicket victory against India in the second cricket Test, has a few good words to say about the Mumbai crowd.
Pietersen posted a message in hindi on his Twitter page to thank the crowd who gave him a standing ovation when he returned to the pavilion after his brilliant effort.
"Dono teams ko support dene ke liye shukriya! Main chahta hoon kolkata aur nagpur mein agle do tests ke liye bhi aisa hi ho!", Pietersen said on his Twitter account.
"Test wins have to be celebrated! Mumbai is gonna get it tonight!", he said in another update.
Pietersen's teammate Matt Prior congratulated the dashing middle-order batsman. "Re integration' complete! Well played * @kevinpp24" Prior wrote on Twitter.
