Recentupdates may have expanded access to feature(s) discussed in this FAQ. Visit your product's support page, select the correct hardware version for your device and check either the Datasheet or the firmware section for the latest improvements added to your product.
Step 1 Find and navigate to the zip file from which you want to extract the content. Right-click on the file and select Extract All from the context menu. (Google Chrome & Windows system as example)
Step 2. If there is an update available, you will be notified by the Update icon in the upper right corner (if there is no update, the icon will not appear). Click Update and you will redirect to the Firmware Upgrade page on which you can check the latest firmware version and release notes.
Step 1. Connect your smartphone to the Wi-Fi of the router. Then open the Tether APP and login the router. Please tap the management icon at the bottom right corner, and you will see a red point in the System area which indicates there is new firmware for the router.
Note: Please pay attention to the release logs. If it mentions a reset after the upgrade, your previous configuration on the router including internet access and wireless settings will be reset to factory defaults, and you will need to connect your smartphone to the router with the default SSID and password printed on the bottom label and configure the device again.

3. download latest firmware update from tp-link website, unzip bin file, then go to web interface, go to firmware upgrade page, and select the bin file to upload and update. X60 goes through steps of applying the update and rebooting, but after restart the firmware version remains as the old version from 20191216.
If that fails, go to the support page of the Deco and download the oldest firmware version which should be 1.2.4 (build 200527), log into the web GUI like you tried, and upload the .bin file. If that works, use the app again to try and update it that way after.
@Tony Thanks for the advice. I was able to get one of the devices to switch to different firmware versions, but two of my three x60 devices remain stuck on the original firmware. I have moved the device that can change to the latest firmware into the primary position and left the other two as satellites. I hope running different firmware versions in the same network won't cause too much trouble.
The firmware on two of the devices won't budge. The third accepts updates and will easily change from one firmware version to another without any trouble. I am beginning to suspect I have a couple of bad x60 devices. Does anyone know of any procedures that I could use to force firmware to flash? I am losing faith in the online tools because they always report that my firmware is already the latest even when it is painfully obvious that there have been three firmware releases since the original.
@Tony Thanks again for your input. I created a ticket with customer support at TP-Link and was soon escalated to a second tier technical agent. I granted him local access to my network through a Team Viewer client and he was able to remote into my Windows PC and run firmware upgrade tools and diagnostic commands. He concluded that though the units were in working order, their firmware was frozen and I would need to send them in for servicing. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of technical acumen from the second tier support representative and the online tools that TP-Link was able to provide. I have started the RMA process so should have replacement units soon.
@David-TP Hi David, thanks for the suggestion. I have just tried this but sadly no joy. The process runs and when the deco came back up I logged back into the deco's local upgrade page and it displays the message 'Firmware update failed and some features are unavailable. Please keep Deco powered on, then update the firmware again to get complete features.'. I tried again and it still did not work.

@JB12 I finally figured out the problem!! When you update the router (not sure which version this starts but I upgraded to 1.0.14 and this happened), it cuts your password to 15 characters. Meaning, if your password was longer than 15 characters, your new password is the old password up to the 15th character. So no need to make a tp-link account! Just log in with the new 15 character password and change it to whatever you want. You are able to use more characters when you change the password (not sure what the limit is though). That is one odd bug. Hope this helps!
Same exact problem. Looks like a bug in the upgrade. I would advise against upgrading the A7 until a patch is issued. Unfortunately I didn't have a tplink account configured... Time to wipe the configs for me.
Nevermind, just piss poor design. You must have a tp-link account bound to the router after the firmware upgrade. The work around is to create a user ID then log in to the router with it. Once you have done that it will prompt for the router password. This is the same password that was not working.... except now it works but only to bind the password to the tp-link ID. Once your id is bound to the router you can log in again. No need to wipe your config just bad UI design.

I go into the stupid app. I am logged in on my account. No possible password works to interact with the actual router. To my knowledge the only default password there is was for the wifi which I decided to keep. I even tried that and it won't work
I can login on the website version and interact without issue. But I want to be able to use the app. Wish they would acknowledge they bugged the last update and release a new one that fixes this on its own. At least from the website I could DL it.
this will let you in, but when you log out again you will be always required to log in with TPLink CLoud ID. Have you found a way to restore normal access with local password only? Frankly I don't give a s*** of administering my router from a cloud account and I would much prefer to do that only from local network.
Is the support for this product gone forever or something or is it just that websites for this location are so much less important than the US/UK ones and are outdated?
I'd love to get a reasonable answer for this with a solution. The best would be to update the Czech websites and provide even our customer community with the firmware versions to download and upgrade to. Anyway, I am quite satisfied with the product overall and I had already recommended it to many of my friends that bought it on my recommendation later on. I just demand propper support for the product I and many others purchased, here, in Czechia.
The TL-PA4010 is a passive plug, by that I mean it has no interface / IP address or GUI - it will just take signals from the LAN cable / Powerline and modulate them, what is there to update? This will either work or it wont. For that reason there is rarely any updates for these unless there is a serious firmware issue with the chip inside that needs addressed. Having used plugs from other vendors, this is the same for their passive style plugs.
More advanced homeplugs that contain WiFi capabilities, require IP addresses or provide some GUI interface do receive updates (TL-WPA4220 for example). This is usually to add additional features but rarely (if at all) is it ever to address an issue with the chipset / Powerline to LAN modulation itself.
The answer you have received i find it really not pointing to anything as the story which is linekd in there is having tow parts and two cases and none is including Archer C80 eu version .... so thank you but i would rather skip it.
Just got same issue. Tried to upgrade Archer c80 firmware via wireless (using "upgrade" feature in router menu) and now it is not working anymore. Power led is just flashing and that's all. No network is available. After device restart story is the same - power led is blinking, network is not available and nothing changes.
Performing the upgrade to the new firmware (5.x) from the last latest release (September 21) fails. After reboot it gets to 67% at start up and just sits there indefinately with no clue as to what its doing - left it for an hour or so!.
