Opening a RAR archive can sometimes take a considerable amount of time.

When opening an archive for the first time, if I directly view its contents without extracting them, I often need to wait for a progress bar to complete—this waiting period can occasionally be as long as the time required to fully extract the files. In contrast, the same archive usually opens quickly when using WinRAR. This issue tends to occur more frequently with larger archives. Could you please explain why this happens and whether there are any ways to improve or mitigate this behavior? Thank you!

Hello, this is Bandisoft.

The task of opening an archive is cached on the disk. If you open any file with Bandizip first and then open the same file with WinRAR, WinRAR will process the task faster, and if you open the file with WinRAR first, Bandizip will do faster. This is a natural behavior due to the disk caching mechanism.

If Bandizip is always slower than WinRAR for your RAR archive even after repeated tests:
- Please send us the archive via email attachment or cloud storage.
- Or let us know where we can download it.
- At the very least, we need details on what kind of files are compressed and what compression options are used.
