Bandizip is a great piece of software. It truly is. The program does what it's supposed to do and does it well. Everything is laid out logically. It integrates seamlessly into Windows. Finally, aesthetically, it looks beautiful. The graphic designer should be complimented. The development team hit a home run.
I have been using this zip program for free for several years. In appreciation, I contacted Bandizip's PR team, and I asked if there were any discounts or coupon codes. I was brusquely denied. (I think you should find another PR person.)
$30 is not a lot, but I felt that it's a little bit too much for a zip program. I don't know what others think about it. I think $15 would be more "fair". I might pay $20 but only if you forced me. 😃
My point is that Bandizip may have miscalculated the price elasticity of their product. They might make more money if they charge $15 for their program. Even though they charged 50% less, I'm guessing that they would more than double their sales. If they quadrupled their sales, it would double their revenue. I can tell you that I would gladly pay $15 even though I didn't have to. I feel like it's a fair price.
What does everybody else think?
