Hi all,

I built a bandicoot for an Android platform. I didn't change anything
in the source code. You only need the Android NDK. I tested it on
MacOS and Windows (CygWin) systems.

I tested the built binary bandicoot on an emulator and Samsung Galaxy
S. Both standalone and distributed versions are working fine.
One problem I found is that my mobile does not have a hostname (just
MAC and IP address).

The bandicoot server recognised the bandicoot client from the mobile
as a localhost. It was not possible to synchronise data between the
server and the client.

Is it possible to start bandicoot as the distributed version:
- on the network interface ( I need this for the server side ) ?
- so the bandicoot server could recognise my bandicoot client without
the hostname?

I am going to describe mentioned tests on my blog (http://www.ajka-
andrej.com).

Best regards,
Andrej Petras

Hi Andrej,

This sounds really good. I'm looking forward to read your blog :)

In regards to your questions we need to think about how to do it.
Currently there is no way to make the components of Bandicoot identify
themselves other than by hostname. Going forward with the mobile
platforms and the distributed setup we need to review not only the
volume component but also the way how executors and transaction
manager work.

Feel free to post some ideas on how you think it could work.

Julius
