When this group started out, it was inspiring to see all of us try and
put our mark on the world with our blogs. And I know it has been said
by every successful blogger out there, the secret to a successful blog
is, just keep writing. Don't ever give up. Just write.......

Today, it seems there's only 2 of us who are consistently here
anymore. And that's sad. Because you know what? That secret I
mentioned above is true.

For over a year now my blog has consistently got about 25 hits or so a
day. Sure it's been disappointing sometimes, I mean we all dream of
seeing several thousand hits a day, but like we've been told a million
times, it just takes time, be patient, and just keep writing.

So I kept writing. And you know what? It's a numbers game. Because
if you write, every day, or every week, consistently without stopping,
eventually you're going to write that one 'magic' article that propels
you forward. It's just the law of averages. It has to happen.

I wrote that 'one article' about a month ago. It got stumbled, and
shot up to over 1200 hits in one day. I was ecstatic! But then I
dropped right back down to averaging 20-30 hits a day again. Oh
well. It was fun while it lasted right? Back to the grind. Just
keep writing. If it happened once, it can happen again.

Last Friday I checked my stats and couldn't believe my eyes. Over 900
hits again! On what? I hadn't written anything lately. It was that
one 'magic' article - again. The one I wrote over a month ago. The
next day, over 500 hits. The next day, 500 more. It has been that
way all week. Never less than 150 hits every single day. And my
Adsense is adding up quicker too. Nice! Today, at 2pm, I have over
200 hits already, this time on another post I wrote almost a year
ago. It has begun.

For the first time since I started this blog, I am averaging over 350
hits a day. You might say, is that all? Steve P, or John Doe
Blogger, or whomever averages 1000s of hits a day. Good for them.
This is me I'm talking about. Mr Beginner Blogger. Mr. 20 hits a day
for the last year blogger. And in comparison to that, 350 hits a day
is HUGE. I'll take it.

And you know what? Maybe I'll eventually drop back down to 20 hits a
day again. Somehow I don't think so. But even if I do, I'll enjoy
these last 9 days and remember them always. Because like I said, it's
a numbers game. If I did it once, I can do it again. The confidence
something like this builds is amazing. It will make you feel
unstoppable.

So for those of you who have stopped posting, maybe because you
weren't seeing the results you had hoped for, just remember it's all a
numbers game. It just takes time.

It WILL happen.....but only if you Just Keep Writing.

Definitely true, and congratulations on your newfound success BTW.  I take it the article you're referring to is the one about the ghost from WWII?

I haven't been writing as much as I'd like to.  But I've been making lots of other changes to the blog--  just switched from blogspot to wordpress :)

Yeah, the slow growth can be frustrating.  I average around 300 visitors/day, with more on weekdays and less on weekends.. and that hasn't budged much in months and months.

One thing about those "magic" articles is, you can never predict which one it'll be.  Without fail, whenever I write one of those magic articles, it's something I was thinking would be just a "meh" article.  And when I write an article that I think is gonna be all epic and amazing, I'll be lucky if it gets any traffic.  Heh..

Keep up the good work, Chuck.  And everyone else.. let's see some more writing!! ;)

Congrats Chuck. I am still working on my website, just updating posts
once a week or so. Like you say, I have one main article that gets 50%
of my traffic, roughly 5000 hits a month and the rest make the other
half. I am also trying to create a community as well as a blog. Has
anyone tried google friend connect or anything like that?
OK, thanks for the encouragement Chuck, keep it up everyone!
best,
Paul.

Hey Daniel,

I occasionally stumble something of mine manually, but mostly I don't mess with the social bookmarking.  Do any of you guys have experience with that?  I know some of the people at (eg) warriorforums or digitalpoint or whatever, really go serious with it and use bookmarking demon and stuff.
