Alot of thier machines had a partition with the setup data stored in it, including the launcher program that responded to F10 or whatever was written on the compaq logo screen with the hourglass.

If the drive was FDISK'ed for a fresh install it may have been removed.

Going to Compaq's support site, could not find a utility to go into CMOS settings. They had upgrades for the BIOS, but I didn't want to upgrade it at this time. I was wondering if someone knows the name of the BIOS file or where it can be downloaded?

We're eventually trying to install an external modem on the serial port, and would like to look at the serial port configuration to find out why the modem is not detected. Wirdo (TechnicalUser)28 Oct 02 14:55As mentioned it is F10 when you boot the pc. But, your not supposed to hold it. Instead keep taping it until it lets you in. But if you dont have the 3mb non-dos partion on your drive (were the setup files are stored), then you can put the the Diagnostics disk in the disk drive, reboot your system, and choose computer setup from the menu. That's if your computer came with a Diagnostics disk. If not I beleave the above file will make one for you.
