Theerror indicates that the file VCRuntime140.dll is missing from your computer. As per VCRUNTIME140.DLL you can download the VC 2015 Redistributable Package and replace the corrupted/deleted file with the fresh copy.
This error message is directly related to the DLL file, when the VCRUNTIME140.DLL file is misplaced or deleted from the Windows system and you will face this error message. This error indicates a problem with the 2015 version of the Visual C++ Redistributable because there is a known conflict between the 2017 version and the 2015 version.
DLL or Dynamic Link Libraries are external parts of applications and services that run on the Windows system. DLL files are the important part of any computer / laptop and we cannot imagine an operating system without DLL files. A single DLL file can be shared by more than one application and services. That is why, when a dll file gets corrupted / deleted / moved from the system, all linked applications start launching DLL errors. Sometimes, this error message also starts to appear after installing a Windows update or an incorrect installation of any program. This is for the reason that, in all the latest updates or patches released by Microsoft, there may be a missing system file or dll file.
When I tried to open origin is gave me the 'msvcp140.dll is not found' error, I uninstalled origin. I've already tried downloading the x64 and x84 and I've restarted my computer more times than I can count and I downloaded msvcp140.dll and put it in my system32 file, since I have 64bit, I've done a sfc /scannow in Command Prompt (Admin) but nothing works so far. I have a HP computer and I played the sims 4 just last night; please let me know if you have any other ways to fix it
Hey @iiTsunaii this issue can be caused by running an out of date or corrupt VC++ installation. It can be resolved by manually running the installer from the Origin installation folder - the default location for this folder is:
If you get the message that the files are already installed, select Repair instead. It is recommended to run the installer as administrator (right-click the file, select run as admin).
Again, thanks for the help. My problem with the missing MSVCP140.dll is solved. Lucky for me, now it says VCRUNTIME140.dll is not found, I'm so sorry if I'm bothering you with this; do you have any way to fix this problem?
A few weeks ago I reset my PC (keeping my personal files) to fix some issues that my HP had upon startup. Those issues were resolved, but it seems that ever since I reinstalled Windows I've been getting error messages saying that I'm missing both VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140. dll. I've gotten these same two error messages when trying to open two separate applications.
I tried some solutions that I found online and reinstalled and repaired the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ several times over the course of the past few weeks. I've also tried downloading the applications again. Both of these methods didn't work, and I keep receiving the same error messages.
That said, resetting the computer would be the last resort, however, if it isn't too late yet, I suggest you attempt the below steps to fix the first error, as it should in turn resolve the other error as well, if it doesn't automatically fix it, we'll work on that next, before you get to the last resort:
IT specialists recommend reinstalling the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 to fix the missing VCRUNTIME140.dll error. It is important to follow official Microsoft guidelines and install the missing files properly, otherwise, you will have to struggle with each corrupted program separately, which you clearly do not want to happen.
You are trying to start an application but instead, you get a system error, vcruntime140 dll was not found. Or msvcp140 dll was not found. How does that come and more importantly how can we easily fix this?
The vcruntime140 dll system error can occur after a Windows Update or even just after you have installed a new program. The error message might suggest that you need to reinstall the program. But actually, your computer is missing a software library.
So to fix the VCRuntime140 dll or MSVCP140 dll not found error we need to install the correct library (Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package) on your computer. Now there are two libraries that you can install. One for 64-bit applications and one for 32-bit applications.
I always recommend downloading runtime libraries from the official sites. This way you can be sure that there is no malware packed inside it. The library is created by Microsoft, so we are going to download the files from the Microsoft site.
After you have installed the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable library it becomes part of Windows. This means that it will stay up-to-date through Windows updates. On some rare occasions, the system files can get corrupted.
With the new all-in-one package from Microsoft, you should be able to fix the vcruntime140 dll not found error. Make sure that you install both versions, the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the redistributable library.
Recently i've tried to install a Windows 10 Bootcamp version for playing games. Unfortunately, when i launched an unofficial version of World of Warcraft (for Private server), i got an error message for missing msvcp140.dll and then vcruntime140.dll missing.
By the way i manage to got the error messages from appearing, but i still got a final screen, showing that the request timed out, so i really think it is due to the failed installation of these two files.
Unfortunately i ran into a new issue, and that is when i reboot into windows after the installation with bootcamp, there is a message "No Booting Device -- Insert ISO disc or USB and press any key" or something like that.
I do indeed have the disc in a connected external drive with the WindowsIn, but i can't press any key to launch the installation, even after connecting a keyboard. I think the problem here, is that there is no driver to understand an Apple keyboard (like the one on my MacBook Pro and the one i try to connect via USB). Do you think i could resolve that issue with a non-Apple keyboard connected?
Yes, Windows seems to be installed successfully, since there is no error message after Assistant BootCamp has done partition my disk, and rewrite my connected external drive. It even restart my computer like expected, but then i come to that black screen with the message i mentioned.
I even tried to restart my computer (since i couldn't do anything else), keeping the Alt key pressed, and then i saw a Disk called EFI Boot that i launched my computer in (there was also my Mac Disc and also a Windows Disk that launched the black screen only). When i launched the EFI Boot, it started installing Windows but at some point it ask me to choose one of the disk to install Windows in (not sure, i don't remember well), but it says that none of the disk available are GPT, and i can't go further.
We just did 2 fresh installs on brand new PCs and same dll (vcruntime140_1) was missing. We download the dll file and keep it handy. Placing it in Program Files/Qgroundcontrol folder solves the problem every time.
I'm a new user, I was interested in the full version of sketchbook. After I downloaded and tried to install I got error messages saying "MSVCP140.dll file is missing reinstalling may fix this issue". And another pop-up with VCRUNTIME140.dll.
okay so im trying to install origin and the sims4 for my mom on this Dell inspiron 15 that shes had for years. i completely factory reset it and now that ive tried to install it gives me this message "MSVCP140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling to fix the problem."
ive tried reinstalling, then going in as an admin and enabling it and nothing.
ive tried uninstalling the entire graphics pack and redoing it and nothing.
ive even tried scaning as an admin.
im like a 2/10 when it comes to knowing what im doing with computers, so this is all from research on different forums and i still cant get anything to work. this is day 5 and i leave for college next week and i was hoping to have this done by then. can someone please help me.
Hoping someone can help! I'm experiencing a similar issue when I try to run Adobe Captivate 2019 on my new laptop. It worked on my older laptop, but for some reason there's a problem on the new one (see screenshot of error message I get). I have installed the redist x64 and x84, reinstalled Captivate and restarted and still having issues. Any ideas?
this is also something i have tried, and its just not registering.
after going into my control panel i saw that i have 10 different C++ runtime programs installed but again i have very little experience with computers so i didnt know if uninstaling them all and starting fresh would screw it up or not.
ive tried about everything on this page

I have downloaded the 86x, its working now. thanks the most for making it clear.
Bruh now its saying i have something else not installed
I had the same problem trying to install an EA game (Unravel) on Steam. I installed both versions x86 and x64 and after that the Origin app installed flawlessly and I could continue with installing the game.
Thank you for this solution.
