Each of us who is looking for our Banat ancestors, is going back in time towards their place of origin. There are many possible locations such as Silesia, Bohemia, Moravia, the German Provinces, Alsace, Lorraine and so on.

Why not reverse the process and start at the source?

"From Alsace-Lorraine to Banat" is an attempt to follow the path of the emigrants, beginning in their place of origin. Our focus is of course first on the emigrants, but at the same time, widened to include their ancestors and their descendants.

The basis for the book consists of all those born in Alsace and Lorraine and who died in the Banat.

The handling of the emigrant ancestors is feasible due to their smaller number. By contrast however, the descendants compose a huge number of persons. Therefore a cut-off was necessary. In the future, we may add further generations in updated versions.
