Looking for new BananaHackers team members

Hi all,

BananaHackers team is looking for additional members. The team is seeing a leadership transition, with I and Cyan taking over the website, BananaHackers WebStore and the Wiki, and many experienced team members started to move on from the operating system.

We're working on preserving information to prepare for the phase out of KaiOS, by transitioning to a new website based on Jekyll rather than Google Sites, adding new items to the BananaHackers WebStore, and rewriting guides to be suitable for beginners.

- Meta pulled WhatsApp and Facebook support in 2024–2025
- KaiOS 3 and KaiOS 4 devices are released almost exclusively in the US (with exception of the Orbic Journey Pro in Japan)
- KaiOS botched their “AI digital companion for the elderly” Ollie Kickstarter campaign
- KaiOS devices often do not receive major updates as OEMs can’t bother to maintain device support without incentives
- Gecko 48.0a1, used on KaiOS 2.5, is no longer supported by most mainstream websites; Gecko 84 is also starting to lose support
- Fabrice Desré, who once worked on the Firefox OS team and was the lead architect for KaiOS, moved on to Apple
- BananaHackers team no longer has contacts working at either KaiOS or Jio

Are you saying bananahackers is going shift focus to something new?

No plans to move away from KaiOS at the moment, but the team's availability is waning. As I mentioned, we’re trying to preserve the information so others find it easier to work with their KaiOS devices on their own.
