Hi, I better ask before messing with this two apps. I have an Alcatel 3088x. I installed Gerda filemanager and it works great. But is it now safe to remove the system file manager or is it integrated too deep? Same question for KaiStore (which isn't working anyway).

Thx

Hi,
I uninstalled KaiStore on my 8110 without any problems.
I guess you can always back it up and restore them if there are any issues.
Maybe just removing the app entry in the webapps.json file would work to temporarily disable the apps instead of uninstalling.

There's an even better way - just change

"enabled": true

to

"enabled": false

in the webapps.json entry.

Yes that's better :)
I was wondering if there was a setting like that but didn't have a copy of webapps.json to hand to check.

Thanks for that! The other day I also removed KaiStore without any issues. The file manager is used, when attaching a file to a Whatsapp message and so on. So I'd rather like to hide it from the launcher instead of disabling it. Is there a way?

That's also possible - but this time the change would be in the app's manifest.

I'm not sure if this will actually work, but you could try copying the phone's file manager to the data partition (that way system updates will keep working) and modify the manifest:

adb pull /system/b2g/webapps/filemanager.gaiamobile.org

then edit filemanager.gaiamobile.org/manifest.webapp and change "role":"" to "role":"system". If you can't find "role":"", just add "role":"system" to the end of the manifest object.

adb push filemanager.gaiamobile.org /data/local/webapps/

After that, you should also update /data/local/webapps/webapps.json and change the path for filemanager.gaiamobile.org from /system/b2g/webapps to /data/local/webapps.

I hope this helps!
