Someone have successfully flashed a more recent model using this tool https://github.com/andybalholm/edl with the firehose for CAT B35 , can someone confirm that this works on 4052x and A405DL models?

ok , so fire hose works with A405DL..

but working with partitions doesn't work with this message : "Invalid or unknown GPT magic.".

I am ready to do any more tests needed

updates about my A405DL:

1. I can read sectors from the phone with EDL.

2. EDL.PY can not read GPT

3. it seems like it gets some extra 91 bytes at the beginning of everything it reads with XML , that confuses it

4. if I edit the GPT.PY to skip those 91 ,it recognizes it, but is unable to decode UTF16 afterward

5. I managed to read GPT manually with hex editor and download from the phone system partition, boot, and recovery.

6. I must remove manually the extra 91 bytes at the beginning of the dump

7. when I try to write back to the phone, it fails

8. system partition it fails instantly

9. it gets to 100% when I try to write boot partition, but then display an error - no actual writing been made

10. it gets to 100% when I try to write the recovery partition, and display an error, BUT  ,it seems like actual writing has been made

11. if I try to write to the system partition, it fails on "timeout"

.

That's all folks for now..

I tried the cat b35 loader (from edl.bananahackers.net) with the Alcatel A405DL (TracFone) - signature doesn't seem to match at all.

Please explain...

Did you try writing the cache partition? For instance, from this archive (it's the fastboot script that's MTK-specific, not the image itself).

updates:

1. I got better results using another version of EDL ( https://github.com/bkerler/edl ) 

2. I used the firehose that ivan sent me, I think it is CAT

3. I have two A405DL , I realized that the filehose works only with the unlocked one, and with the tracfon it doesn't. both says A405DL on it.

4. I tried manipulating cache partition, system partition.  no luck so far.

I give up.

I can read all partitions perfectly.

When I try to write, it says successful . but no writing has actually been done.

I tried to write by sectors, by partition , and by whole nand.

nothing works.

I used this one  firehose for CAT B35 .

but , eventually it wasn't rooted.

I maanged to install apps directly by updating the userdata partition.

but privilged factory reset is not working.

I tried unpack and repack the boot.

but it fails writing. (it gets all the way to 100% , then fails)

so still no sucess.

the firehose works only on the unlocked version of A405DL . . it does not work on my tracfon A405DL

Can you apply the root from the Wallace Toolbox or any Wallace version? (btw, I recommend Wallace Toolbox version 0.0.3 from the corresponding thread here)

If so, then you can directly run from the root shell:

echo 'root' > /cache/__post_reset_cmd__

And then reboot and you'll have the developer menu enabled in Settings.

the results are:

OmniBB : I get error : Resource write failed: NoModificationAllowedError

and Wallace can not get adbroot, neither Developer Priviliged factory reset.

I came to the same conclusion as you, however for me, terminal emulator doesn't open. I just get the error "connection closed" followed by "connection error".

any news about Tracfone A405DL ? on those the firehose does not work

Hi Yossi and team, for some reason I  can not get into EDL mode. Trying with my unlocked a405dl here in Canada.

Could please post more detailed instructions for entering EDL?

When pressing volume up and and down keys then inserting USB I only get black "Alcatel KaIOS" screen, but it just power-cycles and comes back to the same screen. Or sometimes it gets stuck on that screen forever.

I've also tried with shorting green and black in the USB cable, then plugging it in. To replicate what EDL dongle does. In this phone simply does not boot at all or I get to the same "Alcatel KaIOS" screen and boot loop.

I'm on Linux and trying to enter EDL mode while running this version of edl: https://github.com/bkerler/edl Not sure if it the computer side, or my USB port  has any influence on the phone entering / not entering Download mode.

Do the PK_HASH and HWID reported by edl.py (the PK_HASH and HWID of your A405DL) match the PK_HASH and HWID of the CAT B35 (seen here)? I'm trying to use the same firehose on the OT-4052C, and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or the phone is never going to accept this firehose.
