has any one managed to make any progress on this (other than me)?

so far I've found that ro.build.tags=dev-keys (great news!), and that adb is not actually accessible despite using *#*#debug#*#* (the only time the device appears to adb is in sideload).

I'll put up a list of the working codes (i.e. testing all the Nokia ones) hopefully today), and a log dump (once I get my hands on a spare sdcard).
I would do a partition dump, but (as hinted before) it fails signature checks, so as of right now, I'm stuck.

Have you tried Pris method @
http://r.gerda.tech ?

If this succeeds, there are several options on how to continue...

hi, are there any news about your research on Alcatel devices (i've not understand if you have both the phones)?

I didn't get a chance just yet unfortunately, but hopefully tommorow I'll get a chance.

I don't exactly have both phones, but they run nearly identical firmware and have (I believe) the exact same hardware.

The Universal jailbreak for Qualcomm KaiOS devices will work for the Alcatel Go/My Flip. Make sure you use the firehorse from the your stock ROM.

Download the stock ROM. You can get the firehorse from it.
If you want to flash the stock ROM, just in case, download QFIL as well.

Got Alcatel 4044O (Cingular Flip 2). KaiOS version is 1.0, even after updates. Locked to AT&T, naturally. NV items are partially updateable.

*#*#debug#*#* works. Pris Root (as it is) doesn't.

Stay tuned...

You could try my 'telnetd'-app... works on 8110/v16. (is a certified app - so needs a privileged reset)

It didn't need a privileged reset for me, I just sideloaded it with WebIDE.

That would only be possible if you installed OmniSD earlier (v13) and already did the privileged reset back then...
-- on v16 you can't use engmodeExtensions without it.

Sorry... you might be right.
My app needs 'certified' state - but surprisingly it seems to be possible to sideload certified apps even without 'privileged-mode/-reset'.
--> that's quite 'open' for us :D

Yep, I told you ;) I know because I factory reset it before sideloading with WebIDE.

By that I mean I factory-reset it, not privileged-reset.

all this would be helpful if not for the fact that you can't sideload anything that isn't signed with the right keys, and webIde won't help if you can't access adb...

I have the Alcatel 4044T (Sprint) and the 4044N (Boost-Mobile).

I have ADB access on the 4044T but not on the 4044N (and @Luxferre also has ADB access on the 4044O).  So I guess the 4044N has been blocked the ADB access.
@chabad360, is your's a 4044T ?

BTW, I have a list of all working secured codes for the 4044T (and most of them works also on the 4044N), extracted from the omni.ja file (thanks to @syl...@rentoo.immo for his post https://groups.google.com/d/msg/bananahackers/MIpcrSXTRBk/dJkyussKAgAJ),
If anyone is interested I can post it here.

On devices with adb/usb-debugging and busybox --> my 'adbroot' app (not script) might work...
(I need to rework the app for devices without busybox - as soon as my doro has adb enabled...)

It's 4044C (according to cricket wireless documentation).
So we have now 2 models with ADB access blocked..

I tried your adbroot app;

First, I needed to change all 'let' variables to 'var', otherwise it throws an exception "{SyntaxError: missing ; before statement}".  (this change I need to do on *all* apps I want to run on this device....)

Second, the 'engmodeExtension' is probably missing from the API (it throws an error: "{TypeError: navigator.engmodeExtension is undefined}").  And same is with 'kaiosExtension', also getting same error.
I then found in the omni.ja file (system/b2g/omni.ja) the jrdExtension.js file which seems to include the "startUniversalCommand" in it.  So I tried to change and run it as follows: "navigator.jrdExtension.startUniversalCommand()". Now I'm not getting the above error, but I'm getting following error "{TypeError: navigator.jrdExtension is null}" ...

I don't know if my tries above even makes sense...  and how to proceed further...

Seems your device is on an quite old KaiOS version?

- 'var' and 'let' are not the same - exchanging them might work for some apps - but might break others...
--> but I won't even try to support your mods to my app.
(even more when you say you don't know what you are doing...)

I have the same one (Cingular Flip 2 - OT-4044O). Let me try and extend the app to support ES5 instead of ES6 to be compatible with old Gecko as well.

I have to 'rework' the app anyway... to get rid of busybox ;)
(seems that many KaiOS devices don't bring busybox)

Rooted OT-4044O with KaiOS 1.0! https://cloud.disroot.org/s/GJ3eMTqMRAJ5pG4

Just install with old Firefox / current Pale Moon / XPCShell.

I had to append "jrdextension" and "kaiosextension" permissions, and also leverage JS selection for navigator.kaiosExtension || navigator.engmodeExtension || navigator.jrdExtension to make it more universal, and also added "power" permission for us to be able to leverage privileged reset call (navigator.mozPower.factoryReset('root')) from WebIDE console from the app context.

Let's rock further and find the way to SIM-unlock this beast...

And yes, this version uses Gecko 37, so I had to refactor it from ES6 to ES5.

Thanks to Ivan, we have firehose loader for OT-4044O (Cingular Flip 2). Here's the updated programmer collection for MSM8905/8909 based Alcatels etc: https://cloud.disroot.org/s/EZDzeRq5FgS6CJZ/download

For 4044O, we need the prog_emmc_firehose_8909_alcF.mbn programmer file. For different Alcatel models, you may try different firehoses from that archive as well. (I'd also encourage you to try those on different KaiOS devices, especially from alc8 to alcH, but anyway...)

EDL mode is entered the following way:

1. Reinsert battery but don't turn the device on.
2. While holding both volume buttons, insert the USB cable.
3. Hold the buttons until white screen, and then "Entering downdload mode" (yes, they have a typo!) appears, then release Volume Down.
4. Keep holding Volume Up until black screen appears.
