i had prepared for so many horrible things based on
what others had said but when i finally sat down with it
i found it interesting

and i don't think i was too surprised
by anything

i am glad there's more to come for sure

i think maybe i should watch it a second time and then
respond to this question.  i spent the evening w/seymour an introduction...reading about joe jackson's beautiful bicycle so the documentary didn't affect me too much.

I thought that the directors fondness for Salinger the man, came across as too strong in places. Overall I found the movie interesting. One aspect of the film I liked though, they questioned if Salinger was really a recluse. He went out, took trips, made phone calls. Not typical of a recluse.  Interesting how Salinger used his isolation as a marketing tool. Some of his actions to insure his privacy were done publicly, when he didn't have to. He just wanted to remind us he was still out there, and still not publishing.

Who can ask for a better life? Write for a living, be left alone, and chase beautiful young women.

I hope we do see more of his works.

It would give as all more to talk about.
