Dear IFMSA Family Worldwide,
I hope this finds you well and motivated!
Advocacy remains one of the strongest pillars of IFMSA’s work, empowering medical students to voice their perspectives, influence decision-making spaces, and actively contribute to shaping high-quality medical education systems worldwide.
With this in mind, we are pleased to officially open the call for Facilitators and Participants for the Online Advocacy in Medical Education Training plus (o’AMET+). If you are interested in advocacy, medical education, and external representation, we invite you to read on and discover how to apply.
1. Background
Within IFMSA, and particularly through SCOME, we work on the cornerstone of the health system: future doctors. By strengthening medical education through student engagement, advocacy, and representation, we aim to equip medical students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to improve both their education and the health systems they will serve.
Medical students experience medical education firsthand. Throughout their journey, they identify challenges, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. However, many lack the tools to effectively advocate for change or engage meaningfully with external stakeholders.
The Online Advocacy in Medical Education Training plus (o’AMET+) seeks to bridge this gap. This workshop equips participants with advocacy competencies, leadership skills, and external affairs tools to translate their experiences into actionable advocacy plans, policy inputs, and representation efforts at local, national, and international levels.
This edition places a particular emphasis on External Affairs, enabling participants to engage with stakeholders, represent medical students in conferences and policy spaces, and communicate medical education priorities through professional and scientific channels.
2. Workshop Details
The workshop will be delivered over multiple days, with interactive sessions, group work, simulations, and practical exercises designed to ensure a high-quality learning experience while producing concrete advocacy outputs.
