--------------------------------------------------------

Dear IFMSA members,

It is with great pleasure that we open the call for applications for the first-ever Interprofessional Education & Collaborative Practice (IPECP) Workshop, taking place online from 3 to 8 July 2026, in collaboration with three student-led organisations: the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), the International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA), and the Student & Early Career Nurses (SECN) Alliance.

Background

The increasing complexity of modern health systems requires a workforce capable of effective collaboration across disciplines. Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) has been widely recognized, including by the World Health Organization (WHO), as a key strategy to improve patient outcomes, strengthen health systems, and advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Despite this recognition, the integration of IPE into health professions education remains uneven and often fragmented across disciplines. Many healthcare students graduate with limited exposure to collaborative learning environments, which can contribute to professional silos, communication barriers, and suboptimal teamwork in clinical practice.

Student-led organisations across health disciplines have been actively promoting IPECP through advocacy, capacity building, and collaborative initiatives. However, most existing efforts focus primarily on awareness-raising rather than hands-on skill development, implementation, and long-term sustainability.

To address this gap, the online Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (o’IPECP) Workshop offers a structured, competency-based, and outcome-oriented training experience. Co-created by IFMSA, IPSF, IVSA, and SECN Alliance, this initiative promotes meaningful interprofessional learning and collaboration.
