Dear SCORA , SCOPH , SCORP and IFMSA family,
| |
On the occasion of International Consent Day, we take a moment to reflect on the countless individuals whose autonomy is overlooked, whose boundaries are dismissed, and whose voices are unheard - in their personal lives, in clinical settings, and in systems meant to protect them. These are not abstract issues. They are lived realities for patients, communities, and even our peers.
| |
Today, we come together to launch a campaign on one of the most fundamental principles of human dignity Consent : Informed, Involved & Respected.
| |
The campaign will include 2 webinars & 1 Debate Session.

Debate Session on Patients Safety vs Consent on 4th December, 2025
| |
Why does this matter ?
| |
Around the world studies repeatedly informed consent is often incomplete, rushed, misunderstood or sometimes entirely absent. From surgical procedures conducted without adequate explanation, to patients asked to sign forms they cannot comprehend, to youth experiencing unclear or coerced boundaries. This is a global challenge affecting safety, trust and human rights.
| |
Consent protects women, adolescents, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ communities, and marginalised populations who often face discrimination in healthcare. As future healthcare professionals and advocates, we have the responsibility to ensure that dignity, autonomy and respect are upheld in every interaction.
| |
What do we aim to do ?
| |
This campaign seeks to -
| |
| • | Foster awareness on consent in personal life, medical education, and healthcare system
| • | Build critical dialogue around autonomy, communication, and ethics
| • | Empower youth to advocate for respectful, rights based healthcare
| |
Open Calls for Debate Participants
| |
