How does cross-border accreditation fit within the WFME Recognition Programme? What are the key considerations, requirements, and challenges when accreditation activities extend beyond an agency’s original country of operation? And how are these situations assessed within the WFME framework?

Join us for an informative webinar designed to provide clarity on the concept and practice of cross-border accreditation in the WFME Recognition Programme.

Programme:

This free, interactive webinar will offer an overview of the development of cross-border accreditation within WFME, followed by an explanation of the relevant criteria in both the BME and PGME Recognition Programmes. The session will also outline WFME’s policy and procedures for assessing cross-border activities. A case study from the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU Catalunya) will illustrate how these principles are applied in practice. The webinar will conclude with a question-and-answer segment.

WFME Cross-Border Oversight:

WFME has received a growing number of enquiries regarding accreditation activities undertaken by recognised agencies outside their original country of operation. In response, WFME has established a policy to ensure that such activities, when they occur, are appropriately assessed within the Recognition Programme.

This includes verifying that agencies are recognised by relevant local authorities, that their accreditation decisions have formal standing in the target country, and that their policies, procedures, and standards are suitable for the local context. Specific criteria address the quality, governance, and consistency of cross-border accreditation processes, as well as collaboration with local authorities.

Through this framework, WFME aims to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity and rigour of its Recognition Programme when considering cross-border activities.
