Dear IFMSA members,
With great pleasure, I would like to open the call for the IFMSA delegation to the 9th World One Health Congress.
Details on the meeting
The meeting will take place between the 4th and 7th of September 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The World One Health Congress is one of the leading global platforms bringing together experts, policymakers, researchers, healthcare professionals, veterinarians, environmental scientists, civil society organizations, and youth representatives to advance the One Health approach. The Congress focuses on the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health and serves as a key forum for shaping policy, research, education, and implementation efforts worldwide.
The 2026 edition will cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Climate Change, Environment and Ecosystems Health
- Biodiversity, Wildlife and Pathogen Interfaces
- Food Systems, Agriculture and Plant Health
- Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
- One Health Education and Workforce Development
- Data, Technology and Innovative Analytics
- Governance, Policy and Legal Frameworks
- One Health Implementation and Financing
- Preparedness, Resilience and Global Health Security
- Biosecurity and Biosafety
- Youth Leadership and Community Engagement

I will be coordinating the delegation as the Liaison Officer for Medical Sciences and Research Issues. IFMSA has been allocated five delegation spots for the Student Task Force supporting the organisation of the Congress. We are therefore opening four delegate positions through this call.
Please note that travel, accommodation, visa costs, and any other expenses will not be covered by IFMSA or the organizers. Applicants should apply only if they are confident they can attend the Congress in person.
IFMSA delegates are expected to:
- Be available to attend the full duration of the Congress
- Actively participate in delegation meetings and preparations before the event
- Contribute to the development of IFMSA's messaging, advocacy priorities, and engagement strategy
- Support reporting, dissemination, and follow-up activities after the Congress
- Represent IFMSA professionally throughout the meeting
- Work collaboratively with fellow delegates and external partners
- Support the organisation of the conference in terms of logistics
Selection Criteria
All applications will be evaluated based on the following:- Only IFMSA members from active NMOs are eligible to apply
- Motivation for participation
- Demonstrated interest and experience in One Health-related fields, including but not limited to public health, global health, antimicrobial resistance, environmental health, climate and health, zoonoses, food systems, health policy, research, education, and health security
- Understanding of IFMSA policy work and external affairs
- Ability to contribute to the delegation before, during, and after the Congress
- Previous experience in advocacy, research, policy, capacity building, or implementation activities related to One Health
- Regional and gender representation will be taken into account
How can you apply?
Fill in the Appilcation Form (link)
- This online form contains the Candidature Form, which needs to be signed and stamped by your respective NMO President for the application to be valid.
Please fill out and upload the Candidature Form (link) correctly.
The official name of the meeting to be used in the CF is: 9th World One Health Congress.
If the applicant is the NMO President, the Candidature Form must be signed by another NMO Representative.
The Application Form with Candidature Form needs to be submitted before the 20th of June 2026, 23:59 GMT.
The application will be considered invalid if one document is missing or the submission is late.
This call is for In-Person Delegation.
