as regards fall and return to campus preparations.
There is a collection, in Boston, of jazz LPs and CDs and about a dozen sheet music books
on popular drumming. These belonged to a now-deceased surgeon who,
wonderfully, got to ..."play [as a drummer] in his younger years in NYC with Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw when he was in his teens and later in life with Ken Peplowski, Ron Carter, John Simon, Bucky Pizzarelli, John Bunch and many others. He performed
at high-end venues such as Carnegie Hall as well as NY clubs and hotels and, occasionally, in other countries."
There are no letters or contracts, etc., just the audio items he had gathered,
all in good shape and the books on drumming. An appreciative home is sought, does not have to be
all kept together, if portions may end up in various locations, that's fine. There is no hard, imminent
deadline to get these placed. BU must pass and I imagine some of you might have to, as well.
But if you are interested, I will gladly share the contact information. Also, if you are aware of another local destination where these would be useful, welcomed, please do share that, too (And if you are saturated, out of ideas, feel free to let me know,
too, I understand)
The vinyl measures about 4 feet [the swing era set is 1 and 1/2 feet, the books that accompany are really quite fine and with moves illustrated], and there are a good several boxes of CDs. Photos attached are supplied by the family member who reached out
to me.
meanwhile many thanks,
Holly
