International Training Workshop on Bamboo Building Material - Dehradun India

INBAR in collaboration with Uttarakhand Bamboo and Fiber Development Board (UBFDB) organized an  international training workshop on bamboo as a modern buildig material from Oct 5-14, 2009. 20 participants from 8 different countries attended the training. The main trainers were Mr. Jeffree Trudeau from Bamboo Living, Hawaii and Mr. Nripal Adhikary from INBAR and supported by Ms. Rashmi Manandhar from Habitat for Humanity Nepal.

 

The participants were able to get a hands-on training about construction of pre-fabricated bamboo house, that was constructed in “Malsi Deer Park, Dehradun”. Some of the participants also made models from bamboo slivers and a bamboo bridge during the workshop. They also learned about various aspects of designing with bamboo and treatment processes. They also got an opportunity to visit “Forest Research Institute, Dehradun” to see bamboo plantation and bamboo testing lab.
