Hi,

Some feedback for V2 beta:

  • I like the new "Save / Share this article" button and configuration options :)
  • I like the option to add a new feed into a specific group :)
  • Some French text in the English version - If the articles in a feed take more than 1 page to display, the message where we can mark the articles as read, is in French. I.e., at the bottom of all pages except the last one, it has the option to click for "Next page", as well as "Marquer les articles comme lus". But the final page has "Mark as read".
  • Some French text in the English version - "Nom" instead of "Name" in "Edit new feed properties" (when subscribing to a new feed) and "Edit feed properties" (when editing an existing feed, but "Edit group properties is fine when editing an existing group).
  • It's not clear how to close a YouTube video from the integrated viewer.
  • A scroll bar on the "Add" screen and the "Help" screen would be useful. At least on my Linux netbook with a 1024x576 display, I cannot get to the bottom of the "Help" screen, and it looks like part of the "Add" screen may be cut off as well.
  • It's hard to find how to delete a feed. It seemed easier with the previous version (I think there was a "Delete" button in the menu?) But this isn't a major problem after discovering how to do it.

Thanks/Merci.

Hi!

Just installed v2 beta 2 and all I can say is that it's awesome!! Thanks! I love the new GUI! If has something to suggest, I would prefer to see unread articles more easily, like maybe bold and an additional coloring option and also an icon or another coloring option to make groups more easily distinguishable.

Thanks again!

One more thing... Is it possible to define left-double mouse click as a refresh action instead of opening the feed properties dialog? Thanks :)

Thanks for your reviews.

@Greg "It's not clear how to close a YouTube video from the integrated viewer"
Is the button bar with the close button not showing on hovering the video ?

@Valsamis
The most convenient way to read new articles is to use the filter to see only unread ones.
The new version allows to also filter the tree containing groups and feeds like the article list.

"
Is it possible to define left-double mouse click as a refresh action"
You can launch the update with a single click. The update iconic button should be visible when hovering a group or a feed. (could you confirm it?)

Thanks for your reply!

The filter option is indeed very powerful :) As far as the iconic refresh button is concerned, it does appear when hovering the mouse over a feed. I find, though, that double-clicking would be even faster ;)

Anyway thanks for your efforts to develop this great feed reader!

Regarding the YouTube videos when using Bamboo's integrated viewer:

That's right; the close button is not showing. None of the YouTube controls are visible at the bottom either, and there is no scroll bar in the Bamboo window when the integrated viewer starts. It seems that it's using a fullscreen mode by default, but it's even bigger than the fullscreen mode that V1.9 used. In V1.9, a scroll bar was accessible.

I've attached 3 screenshots. One is from the Beta release. The other two are from V1.9, one with how the integrated viewer appears by default (not full screen), where there is a scroll bar, and the other if I click YouTube's full screen button, in which case I can still access the YouTube controls, including the button to get out of full screen mode.

This may be related to my Linux netbook dimensions of 1024x576, but everything was fine with those dimensions in V1.9 (scrollbars appeared when necessary).

Thanks.

This update is amazing - it shows a lot of work, and I thank you for it.  Now that I can sync across computers, Bamboo is my favorite reader, bar none.

May I ask if it's possible to merge feeds?  In other words, if I import, will Bamboo delete duplicate feeds?

Thanks again for Bamboo!

Greg,

How do you delete a feed?  I don't see it.

Thanks.

You can delete a feed by double clicking on the feed name in the left column. It brings up an "Edit feed properties" window. Previously, I think that window only let you change the URL or group that the feed was in, but now there's a "delete" option at the bottom of the window.

How do you sync across computer ?

One computer is at home and the other at work ?

It is possible to put the data location into internet like free.fr or google drive for the sync?

I have two laptops at home, so I use Dropbox.  I put the files there, then both computers will have the same Bamboo.  Or at least, they should.  I haven't finished exploring yet.

You also could launch the edition by clicking the selection name in the top of the article list.

From the Options tab and Files section you can define a custom location for the data files.
By selecting your Dropbox folder, the "bamboodata" folder containing all data files will be created in it.
Select your Dropbox folder in your other computers to share theses data.
(It also works with Google Drive)

Premières impressions de cette beta:

Awesome!! For those who love the black theme, your style is excellent! It even looks really nice with the Gray Blue theme with the exception of the folder names; they're are too light gray. I will see if I can adjust this, but I might need your help ;-) Thanks for the great addition!

Hi,

Could you add sharing to Instapaper?

Also:

Shortcut to mark feed as read
Shortcut to go to a specific feed, for example after selecting its name in a dropdow box.

Thanks,

Hi,

Instapaper has no "sharing page" or "sharing link". You must use the bookmark button directly from the web page of the article.

Shortcut to mark feed as read > Ctrl + Del
Shortcut to go to a specific feed > planned for 2.1

I like the popup of the rss content when you mouse over the link.  Very fast, efficient.

How hard would it be to make that box scrollable to display ALL the content, without having to click on the link at all.

How would I do it?  When the user moves the mouse over the box, they could then mouse down/or back up  to scroll vertically.   When moving the mouse back out of the popup, it would close.

Or you could add a scroll bar to the popup.    I'm not a js programmer  but  I'm assuming this is all possible.

PS Another option, use the scroll wheel  found on most mice, the move through the data.

Great job on the new version.

From what I've seen, I have only a few niggles.
There should be a way to hide the "Saved Items" link, for maximum vertical space.
The .bamboo-zone-view should extend to the full width of the screen.

I nearly forgot.
The feed error icon should propagate throught the (several) folder levels so that when a feed craps up on a subfolder the error is visible on the collapsed view.

Dear Bamboo-developers,

I was surprised to find the new GUI. It is totally different, and from the first onset it looks good.
One point of criticism, however. The letters are quite large, and are more suitable to readers with eyeproblems. If you can add an display-option to change the font and fontsize, I would greatly appreciate it.

Greetz,
Dirk.

Seconded. I preferred the smaller font where I could skim more without scrolling as much.

Also, what is the dot next to some of my feeds signify? It's not unread items...is it an error indicator?

I like the ability to select a few as read but not all but it'd be nice to also be able to select all but a few to mark as read.

You can delete a feed by double clicking on the feed name in the left column. It brings up an "Edit feed properties" window. Previously, I think that window only let you change the URL or group that the feed was in, but now there's a "delete" option at the bottom of the window.

Greg,

How do you delete a feed?  I don't see it.

Thanks.

This feeder reader keep getting better and better! Is there any way to embed synchronization of feed to the normal mozilla sync service? Thanks!

Just a (hopefully) helpful comment: I also had lots of trouble finding how to delete a feed.

Any way to make the font size smaller in the reader?
Been running an older version for a looooong time, the slightly bigger font size annoys me really much, also makes so I gotta scroll more to get an overview..

Thanks for the work anyways, been using Bamboo for years :)

Hello there, and thank you for your fantastic reader;
why the new version doesn't support RTL languages?
when will you add this feature?

The add-on supports RSS feed with RTL languages. (exemple: http://alihzadeh.blog.ir/rss/)
If it does not work for your feed you could send me the URL of the feed.
