Sorry to bother all the list accidentally, I was going to reply to Kaitsu alone, but made a strange move obviously. I did not get what Barny's message was about, even though I could open it - maybe it was something that flew too far above my head!
But as I am here, and think of you, I might as well bring you all greetings from India where I was with Kaitsu for 6 weeks, assisting to a GEN-ecovillage education program in Orissa and then visiting around adivasi (indigenous) villages in central India forest and hill area.
There is a growing interest in ecovillage ideas in India, though mostly among people who are anyway active and engaged in forest and nature protection I did not move so much in towns, cities and among the middle class, let alone upper class, to know weather eco-friendliness has reached the general public. The poorest people have enough to do to survive to think of ecology
But many young adivasi and dalit organization workers and leaders took part to the GEN- course and the following tour, and I wait with much interest and optimism the new energy and vision that this will bring in the future in those areas.
Best wishes and fruitful work for you all,
Sirpa Räsänen (from Finland)
