Dear friends,

I sent this letter to GEN Europe (Global ecovillage network Europe
cluster) list that aligns a lot of people who are part of ecovillage
movement in Europe. Maybe it's a bit too long :) but I hope those people
who are interested can still get the info :) I'll try to keep it short in
next messages :)

Who yet has not subscribed to GEN Europe email list, i really recommend,
It is possible to do here: http://europe.ecovillage.org/mailman/listinfo/

Subject: [GEN-E General] Baltic Sea transition network

Dear friends from ecovillages around Europe,

We have good news from up here in the north :)
Sharing with you wonderful news from last weekend.

People from ecovillages and eco-initiatives from around the Baltic Sea area
gathered during the last weekend 23.-25. April in Estonia, Raudsilla
(www.raudsilla.ee) at the conference "Heathy Baltic Sea Lifestyle" that was
organised by Robert Hall and Kicki Bobacka from Sweden and Ave Oit from
Estonia.

There were alltogether 59 participants from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark,
Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Russia and Estonia. Aili also representing Germany
:) Poland also wished to come, but their plane was unfortunately cancelled.
Next time, dear friends!

On this meeting a network "Baltic Sea Transition Region" was born
network for sharing ideas and doing common projects and events together in this
region and why not also in cooperation with projects elsewhere. The idea of
this network was already born on the 90's but the need for this woke up again
last summer in Keuruu ecovillage meeting. Some people felt there is a need for
more regional cooperation, common projects and practical networking in this
area and started working on this. This is a beginning. Robert and Kicki from
Sweden worked on getting funding to our first meeting
and succeeded. Thank you.

The project of "Healthy Baltic Sea Lifestyle" was funded by SIDA, a Swedish
organisation that works to improve international cooperation and
development http://www.sida.se/English/

Our event took place in a huge teepee with the height of 16 meters and a big
fire in the centre. Felt like in the ancient times. Time to remember...
As much as the eyes could catch, there actually only were wooden teepees there.
And some traditional houses.
And a river you could drink from...because riverpearlshells still live there,
it means very clean water:)

We filled our time with many activities, groupwork, yoga, singing, dancing and
of course a healing sauna with jumping into the cold and clean river :) Robert
gave us a very good overview about funding possibilities of this area.

3 different working groups generated ideas about projects we could start
together. Physical, emotional and food group came up with wonderful ideas how
to cooperate more in this region and really do things together. Projects on
healing gardens, happy houses, forest gardens, re-establishing forest churches
(sacred groves), common traditional culture gatherings during solstices, social
skills networking (group facilitators network) were born. A conlusion of all
this is still coming up to this emaili list, but everybody interested is
welcome to join!!!

All pictures from the event, and also project ideas developed are available at:

There are also slides with funding possibilities there.

I very much recommend listening to this music while watching the pics :)
http://www.myspace.com/triinutaul1/music/playlists The girl playing this music
took us on an inner journey with 10 other people on Saturday evening to find
our roots and connection. We danced around the fire in almoust trance, listened
to gongmusic, throatsinging and amazingly beautiful folksongs.

Felt like writing to you:

We can only be something thanks to the unconditional and unlimited love of
other people
We are so connected that
without it we would be nothing!
Friends, no matter where we are, being friends with someone is the biggest
value of all.

Thank you so much, friends, that you are. And for a chance of sharing and
having events together. Being connected in the heart does not require anything
more, just the feeling that there are people there who think the same, feel the
same.

It is such a big learning to come together and really fully listen, to try to
learn that.
How important it is to really see the richness of others.
Thank you for a chance of listening to the fire together!

Thank you!

Kadri
