The summer gathering of Estonian ecovillage movement: "Community education - it takes a whole community to raise a child" 22-24 August 2014 in Sänna
Dear guests, welcome to the Estonian ecovillage summer gathering of 2014. This year we will meet in the south of Estonia at Sänna cultural manor in Rõuge locality, Võru county.
The topic of this year is: "Community-based education - It takes a whole community to raise a child"
At this year's ecovillage gathering we will share the experience of creating community schools in Estonia, ideas about open-air kindergardens, collaborative education, pros and cons of home-schooling and conscious parenting. We take a closer look into the creation of Inventors' Village-school and Gaia School which are the spinoffs of the Estonian eco-community movement.
The keynote speakers of our gathering come from Tamera Peace Research Centre in Portugal (see www.tamera.org). Janos Valder (one of the members of core group of Tamera and Solar Village test field and a father himself) will speak about Tamera in general and will hold a speech: "Tamera Peace Research Centre – A whole Community is needed to raise a Child". Juliane Eckmann (a member of Tamera community since she was 4 years old) is now one of the main initiators of "Escola da Esperanca" (www.escola-da-esperanca.org/), the international school of Tamera that is in process of accreditation. She will give a speech about this initiative "Escola da Esperança (School of Hope) – The Thinking of the Future must make Wars impossible (Albert Einstein)."
In addition: Estonian delegation of this year's GEN Europe conference in "Zegg" ecovillage (Germany) will share their experience and impressions (14 people from Estonia participated). There will also be a workshop inspired from the GEN conference on how to communicate with animals and plants.
There will be a wonderful energy of community, dance and music all day long. People are very welcome to bring along their musical instruments, songs and stories! We will party and celebrate being part of a wonderful movement in the world!
We believe a little bit of dirt is good for the belly, that the most authentic education happens in the nature and in the midst of life, that people are able to come together and offer their children together an environment for growth that is rich and vital. We believe the best teachers are grown-ups who walk their talk and inspire children to take corageous steps for changing the world. A new way of thinking in the world starts from education and education is in need of change.
You are most welcome to our event (of course also with children, there will be interesting activities for the whole family)!
Please take a look at the practical information and then please register at in...@kogukonnad.ee if you wish to come as a foreign guest!
