Target Audience: Trainers, IT Managers
Description: The ultimate goal of any learning and development effort
is to know and achieve the firm's business objectives. But how can we
tell if training has been a success? How can we know if the business
and user goals are being met and behaviors have actually been
changed? How can we reinforce learning in the workplace? How do we
report and measure improvements?
Sue Pasfield and Janis Richman will speak about how goal-directed
training can help measure behavioral change and provide your training
professionals with the essential insight and knowledge to identify and
interview key stakeholders, as well as design, implement, evaluate and
reinforce training. They will also discuss some of the delivery
challenges inherent in a goal-based learning program: How do you
deliver different training goals to different target audiences? How do
you get people to take responsibility for their own learning? How do
you provide goal based training in the workplace? This is where e-
learning comes into its own as it can deliver business goal targeted
training to specific groups of users for both formal and informal
learning.
Presenters:
Sue Pasfield has been involved with technology-based training since it
began 30 years ago. As a founding member of TutorPro, she spent eight
years working on e-learning with law firms in both the U.K. and U.S.
Sue set up Capensys with a group of like-minded law firm training
veterans. Capensys's mission is two-fold: Not only to use innovative
technology to help firms get best value from their training dollars,
but also to help trainers and training managers shine and gain the
recognition they deserve.
Janis Richman has been specialising in law firm training and
performance management for 30 years. She was a lead interface designer
and training specialist at Baker Robbins for 10 years where she
provided goal-based application design, learning and performance
management techniques.
If you have colleagues in other firms or others within your own firm
who share your interest in this topic, please invite them to attend
with you. Nonmembers are always welcome at our events, and we're
hopeful they'll learn a little bit about ILTA from the experience.
There is no cost to attend, and there is much to be gained. Tell a
friend about the ILTA meeting!
