Target Audience: Trainers, IT Managers
Description: Persuasion is the ability to change people's behavior and
successfully direct them toward the actions and habits you desire from
them. This session is based on the research of Robert B. Cialdini, a
noted social psychologist who is currently Regents' Professor of
Psychology at Arizona State University. His book, Influence: The
Psychology of Persuasion, is the result of years of study into the
reasons people comply with requests in business and other settings. In
the book, he identifies six weapons of influence:
1. Reciprocation
2. Commitment and Consistency
3. Social Proof
4. Authority
5. Liking
6. Scarcity
Trainers and Training Managers can utilize these weapons in the
classroom and in the community at large to impact the overall success
of any technology initiative. In this session, Jeffrey will provide
practical examples of how to successfully (and subtly) practice the
art of persuasion to change the behavior of our learners.
Presenter: Jeffrey Roach has been working with law firms for the
past 20 years designing and delivering learning strategies. Currently
the President of EncoreTech, he works with top law firms and training
departments around the country on maximizing the value of their
training and support dollars. In addition, Jeffrey also works with the
executive team at EncoreTech on the long-term strategic direction for
the company.
