Some (but only a couple?) cyclists have been assaulted by teens in the Node's neighborhood recently. I feel obligated to spread awareness, but I hope not to alarm anyone.

Perhaps riding to/from the Node with someone else is a good idea. Perhaps use this forum to coordinate riding partners if you're concerned.

I'm open to riding together to/from an Open Hack, but I would also personally ride alone, just with some extra caution and awareness.
