Did this idea just die on the vine?

It's been a few weeks since any online discussion has taken place
(that I can see) about this idea. Is there still a will to do this in
Baltimore?

I think Adam was expecting a baby very soon so he may be offline for a
few weeks. It's definitely gonna happen though!

I think there is interest but we need someone to lead that interest. I
know I don't have the time right now to take the lead - but I will
fully support for now.

The baby is due in July (on or around Artscape weekend), so that's not really excuse yet. :)

"Die on the vine" is too strong. Maybe "ripening slowly", as long as we're on the idea gardening[1] theme. More poetically you could say, the swirling mysteries of the twitterverse laid this on my doorstep, but I may not be the event planner they were looking for. I'd like to keep bouncing this thing off the community, but I don't know the best way to go about that.

I'm going to continue getting involved with the community (Refresh, Ignite, dorkbot, Outlet [2]), which is really what got me in in the first place. It's all about the people, that is. It feels kind of circular going to these events, talking to interesting folks, and then on the side planning an event that I can go to so that I can talk to these interesting folks.

What's next? I don't really know. I suppose I'm also looking for someone (more) ready to pick a direction and start running. Like Mike said, there's interest and it's going to happen. It's caught the attention of folks from a lot of different walks (students, business types, artists), which is beautiful. There's potential for an event that branches into a lot of different fields (art, tech, marketing, entrepreneurship, partying), which would rock. I don't think it will end up tied to Artscape, but beyond that, there's a lot of vision that needs to be shared before we get a clear picture.

I'll be around and would love to keep chatting about this in person. See [2] for my upcoming schedule (all events I highly recommend), but if no one's down with those, I could do an extra-extra-curricular meetup.

It's all good! This group had been so talkative and then it completely
stopped, so I was wondering what happened.

I'd love to step up and be more active. Let's set a date for a happy
hour when we can discuss and plan. How does next Wednesday, April 15,
sound?

I agree with Adam. I don't have the experience of putting on a really
large event like this, and am sort of stultified by the next logical
step of creating/planning the event.

Also, on a separate vein, I wonder if we change the name of the event
or the focus? The one thing I would hope this even would be able to do
is bring together all the different groups and individuals who are
currently so active and get them together. Imagine what could
happen :) Maybe we call it "Bmore Alive" to represent all the energy
that is bubbling in these different pots, and get them all at least on
the same stove.

Adam, as I've mentioned in the previous emails between yourself and
Mike S.
I'm definitely looking to play a key role in the organizing,
execution, and ultimately
bringing this idea to life.

Since this email serves as an introduction to the rest of the
contributors to
the group, I'd like to say to all that I'm committed to making this
happen this summer.

I have tech event planning experience but I will say right away that
an event of this
magnitude requires a few people working on key operational areas and
even more
part-time volunteers for it to be done right. This will require us to
get the ball rolling
right away.

The first area to solidify is who would like to be a co-organizer, who
would like to
be a contributor, who would like to volunteer?

I've provided standard definitions of each role below.

An organizer can be defined as "Secure venue, media outreach,
sponsors, speakers,
conceptualize, strategize, deliver and be accountable.

A contributor can be defined as "I don't have the time to do any cold
calling, securing
venues, but the idea is great, and I'll post on my blog, design the
flyer, send out email blast,
take care of tasks that organizers can't handle etc.)

A volunteer can be defined as "Leading up to the event, I can be
available to help out in various areas
I don't have time to organize or contribute but I will spread the
word"

Please email the login info for the bmoreinteractive Twitter account
so I can start
scheduling some Tweets to get a buzz going.

Let's decide who wants to do what and then meetup. I would love for
this event to be hosted in Baltimore.
It's a LOT of talented professionals that live and work here.
