Dear Scouts & Parents

A few dates for your diary.

April 19th          Meeting cancelled (Good Friday)
April 26              Camping Weekend in Aurora Glencree.
May 10th           Mountain Pursuits Challenge - MPC team to be announced.
Overnight light weight camp for remaining
Scouts.
May 24th           Camping Weekend away (maybe Castle Saunderson).

We will be focussing on Camping over the next few weeks to prepare for
our Annual Camp in August. Regarding Annual camp we did not get the
number needed to fund the trip to Austria for the Scouts this year so
our alternative plan will to go to Scotland this year instead, the cost
will be similar without the need for Vaccine injections:-). We will
communicate full costs shortly but we would like you to confirm whether
you are still interested in Annual Camp at this alternative venue for
the same dates ASAP.

For our weekend in Aurora we will be meeting in Aurora at 7.30PM on Fri
2th in full Uniform and collection is from same at 2PM on Sunday 21st.
Scouts will also need to be available from 8 to 9pm on Wednesday 24th at
the Hal to pack the trailer.  Scouts are also needed from 7pm to 9pm on
Thursday 25th to put up tents in Aurora so that we are ready to go when
we arrive on Friday. Lastly when Scouts are collected Aurora on Sunday
they will be needed for an hour in the Den to put away/hang tents in the
Scout Hall before they can proceed home.
Weekend costs 40 Euro to sealed in an Envelope with Scouts name and
Aurora weekend  written on the front of the envelope, cash on please -
no checques. Directions and kit list enclosed.  Please confirm by email
if Scouts are participating in this weekend.

Lastly we have noticed over the last number of weeks that Scouts are not
attending in full uniform (Scout chirt, Neckerchief, Scout trousers,
Scout belt and dark coloured shoes), all Scouts must have full uniform
to attend events (this does not apply to new Scouts who have joined in
the last month or so).

Hi Tom,
Great email.
I'd just add in the dates of the annual camp to ensure they don't have to look it up in older posts.
Thanks,
Gerry

Hi Tom,

a few edits below:
Added a 'pre-camp requirement' section on pre-camp prior to annual camp.
fixed some dates, and fixed some typos.

Dear Scouts & Parents

A few dates for your diary.

April 19th          Meeting cancelled (Good Friday)
April 26-28th              Camping Weekend in Aurora Glencree.
May 11-12th           Mountain Pursuits Challenge - MPC team to be announced.
May 11-12th                     Overnight light weight camp for remaining 2nd & 3rd year scouts.
May 24-26th           Camping Weekend away (presently targetting Castle Saunderson, Co. Cavan).

A long standing scout section 'pre-camp' requirement is that a scout prior to attending a week long annual camp must have already camped with the scout section for at least one full weekend. In the scout section, patrols are expected to be self-sufficient whilst camping with regards to cooking, wash-up, etc. The 'pre-camp' requirement helps new scouts prepare for a longer camp, helps iron out any potential difficulties with regards to kit/patrol life/rotas/home-sickness/etc. The 'pre-camp' requirement is in the best interest of the scout and promotes harmony within the scout section.
