Calling All Dancers: Tribute to iconic La Monica Ballroom Redux @ Santa Monica Pier's Twilight Dance Series

sneakers - and let's pay tribute to La Monica Ballrom Redux by the ocean,
under the stars!
Those dancers who once were swept up among throngs of dancers reveling in
the vast and ornate La Monica Ballroom, a palatial-like structure built in
1924 on the Santa Monica Pier, will get another chance to a relive those
heady days. Now 85 years later, and in celebration of the Santa Monica Pier’
s Centennial Anniversary on September 9, 2009, the La Monica Ballroom Redux,
will pay tribute, to the original experience of the La Monica Ballroom on
July 23, from 6 to 10 PM. The Pier will come alive with historic throwbacks
to the La Monica Ballroom in its heyday in 1924. Visual elements will
include a version of the original dance floor and entryway where Western
Swing blossomed in the 1940s and 1950s.
This is a no-host event once we get to the ballroom. It will be impossible
for us to find each other at the Pier. But we *will* hang out together if we
drive together or find each other!

CARPOOL
When RSVP'ing, please indicate if you will carpool and if you can drive or
want to ride.
(1) In parking lot next to McDonald on Muholland Drive and Avenue San Luis,
Woodland Hills, off 101 Freeway. We meet at 4:30 and leave no later than
4:50 PM. It's a commute hour, so we will be in traffic. Also, the earlier we
arrive, the better chance we won't have hard time finding parking spot.
(2) If you are in other areas and can host the carpool, please email me.
It's easy; you will be at the designated location where dancers are to meet
and re-arrange carpool as necessary so that we can all ride togther.
