FUN REPORT
HOW MANY GUESTS? We had about 300 guests last year, so we had tri-tip dinner ready that would last at least past midnight for 300 guests. But the number of guests must have more than doubled! I counted up to 345 and lost count. The dinner ran out in two hours, and we had to go countless store-runs! Thank you all for coming and having a great time with us! As you told us, this was the best party ever!
FOOD. So. Jay cooked for hours and hours to feed hundreds of guests. We had Jay's trademark tri-tip BBQ, grilled fish, baked potatoes, buttered corns, yummy BBQ ribs, three GIGANTIC bowls of pica de gallo (aka salsa) made fresh the very same morning, ice cream floats, chocolate foundation, pounds and pounds of fresh salad, pasta, cakes, cookies, bakeries, fresh fruits, veggie platters, exotic ethnic desserts, all kinds of appetizers that I can't even recall. You brought something to share with other dancers and guests - thank you so much!
DRINKS. Booze and sodas and waters. More store runs! Let's just say that owners of neighborhood liquor store worships me now. Matt made sure his "Apple Martini Well" never went dry, and it was a HIT! I was a bit concerned about drinking & driving. But you see, guests who come to our parties are so nice and responsible! As far as I know, no one left my place until they were clearly sober or had a designated driver. You rock!
BIRTHDAYS. Besides Jay who was celebrating his birthday, we also had so many people who celebrated their birthdays too. I wanted to make sure we do birthday dances together, but there was just so many people to coordinate it. Next time, I will do better job celebrating EVERYONE'S birthdays! Happy birthday again: Jay, Robert, Michael, Gregorio's partner (I am so sorry for not remembering your name), Amelia, John, Gabby, and all the birthday boys and gals whom I didn't get to talk to!
FREE DANCE LESSON. My living room is not small, but obviously it cannot fit 70 dancers. We had beginners and novice dancers taking a lesson even at the doorway. We also had more advanced dancers in the class, helping and encouraging those who were trying to learn. See, that's what dancing is about - sharing! Let's share our lives together! (And come to my classes too! Ha ha!)
DANCING ALL DAY AND UNTIL EVENING. We had three dance floors: one for salsa, one for swing, and one in the patio. We had separate music going on for different styles of dancers, and all floors were packed! Last crowd didn't leave until past 2:30 am. Dancing went on, the music went on, laughing and joking went on and on. That was more than 14 hours of dancing. We even set up additional portable floor in the patio. We had the Westies, Lindy Hoppers, Jitterbuggers, Salseros & Salseras, Casineros & Casineras, Hustlers, Tangueros, ballroom dancers and pretty much dancers from all styles of partner dances. And of course, we had a lot of "non-dancers" dancing too! Yay!
DID THE POLICE COME? No, not this year. We were visited by the police last year, and they were really cool. I was hoping that they would drop by again this year, but they didn't. Next time I am extending my invitation to them too! Ha ha!
SCHEDULING. Jay and I try our best not schedule our annual party on top of any other events in town. I really don't want to split the dancers - I want dancers to gather! But apparently we couldn't avoid all events this year. I would like to send out special thank you and farewell to Joby Brava who was having a farewell party the same day. Joby, you may be moving away for now, but you are never leaving us!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND APPRECIATION
Conan for sleeping over Zeanie's house for 2-nights-and-3-days-of-help. Jay for cooking hours and hours and preparing food for days. Ric Rosini for letting us use his portable floor so that we could dance in the patio. Matt and Jes for moving furniture, great apple martini, getting helpers and crews and get the party ready. Lou for bringing fans and taking care of dancers. Dee for making huge bowls of salad. Danny for being one of the most helpful crew, making sure everything is stocked up and all ran well for the guests. Greg being our resource person readily available. David and Maureen for the help during birthday cake ceremony. Andy for the music help and table help. Ben and Brian for DJ'ing for the Westies. Matt Castillo for DJ'ing for East Coast Swing, Lindy and Jitterbug dancers. DJ William and DJ Ricky for spinning hottest Latin music for Salseros & Salseras, Casineros & Casineras. John "Fish" for the fish and ice chests and more. Steve and Natalie for the hands. Dale
and Julie for all their help. "Pirate" Bill and Bob for all the garbage help. Benjamin and all others whom we do not know the names of, for picking out the trash and cleaning up the mess others left behind. Neighbors who put up with noise and heavy traffic until late, late hours. Everyone who came early to help, including Anthony and his friends, Matti and all the cool people. Everyone who brought desserts, appetizers and drinks to help. All the dance professionals and promoters who showed up to have a great time with all dancers! Dance promoters and business people who were courteous to ask before putting down their flyers on the special table we provided... and not turning this semi-private party into an annoying business place!
Did I miss anyone? If I did, please forgive me and blame on my medicine.
Remember, our annual BBQ & Dance party is on every year in May (this year was an exception). So mark your calendar and call/email me if you don't hear from me next year!
