Wednesdays: West Coast Swing Party Night
In 2009 Wednesdays continue to be the domain of Randy “The Mixmaster” Johnson.
Wednesday is West Coast Swing Party Night at Billy Reed’s. You love what Randy plays on Sundays and he’ll be playing that same great music (plus some of the latest WCS music from the SoCal scene) on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 9 PM
for only $5 admission. Music will be mostly WCS with a splash of Nightclub 2-Step and Hustle for spice. Other requests will also be welcome.
Randy has been so pleased with the contents of the tip jar that we have decided to keep this dance “admission free” until further notice…This is dance night for the more progressive WCS dancers. This week there will be an infusion of even more of the “hot” music from the SoCal dance scene.
Randy is no longer at McCormick’s and all of the proceeds of these dances will go directly to Randy’s “Feed a starving DJ” fund.

Great dancing to Smooth Ballroom, Latin & Swing DJ music. Emphasis will be on West Coast Swing, Nightclub 2-Step, Hustle & your requests. $5. If you show your dinner receipt from Billy Reed’s for that night you can dance for Free.
If your passion is for a specific dance just tell the DJ that you are passionate about Country 2 Step, Polka or Argentine Tango or whatever and he will be sure that it is represented in that night’s play list.

Our Wednesday & Friday Billy Reed’s dancers are pretty friendly. Even those who come as a couple are usually willing to dance with others. Ladies, if you want to dance more you are encouraged to ask the men for dances (or sing to Brian in French as you are dancing). Asking a leader that you don’t know but would like to dance with is quite acceptable but it is recommended that you only ask for one or two dances per leader per evening. If they enjoyed dancing with you then they will be back on their own. We will be doing a couple of mixers per night and a couple of “Ladies Choice” dances as well.
Sunday:
(Every 1st, 3rd & 5th Sunday) at Billy Reed’s Restaurant, located at 1800 N. Palm Canyon Dr. (near Vista Chino), Palm Springs, CA. Elvia Gomez teaches a Smooth Ballroom or Latin dance lesson from 2-3 PM and hosts open dancing from 3-6 PM. The cost will be $5 for the lesson, $5 for the dance or $8 for both. The dance music is Smooth Ballroom, Latin & Swing. The last dance I attended, there were more than 50 dancers signed in. I’m sure you won’t want to miss this event; the price of the lesson is a real bargain for a teacher of Elvia’s stature…Brian

OCWCSDC Sunday Dance with DJ Jumpin’ Jack Smith
Intermediate lesson from 6:15-7:00 PM on the main dance floor, beginning lesson from 7-7:45 PM (usually in a separate room unless there is an unusually large crowd for the beginning lesson)
Lessons are taught by many of the best teachers in SoCal. They are included with your dance admission of $10, $7 if you are an OCWCSDC member or $9 if you are a sister club member.

Valentine Dance Sunday February 8, 2009 - Patton Auditorium
USA Dance cordially invites you to the eighth annual Valentine Dance, Sunday, February 8, 2009, 1:00-5:00p. at Patton Auditorium in Highland, CA. This is an opportunity to bring dancers and instructors together from all the studios in the Inland Empire to dance, have fun and show their stuff. We hope you can attend and perform and/or have some of your students perform.
General admission for the dance is $15, $10.00 for card bearing USA Dance (USABDA) members, $5.00 for full time students with ID and children under 18.
We are also looking for one, maybe two, performances, approximately two minutes each, from each dance studio. We ask performers to limit their routines to two minutes so we can fit in more exhibitions. If you have students who would like to perform, please let me know.
