I've been doing this Ball of Wax thing for a long time now, and one consistent rule has always held: We do one show for each volume, four volumes a year. They say rules are meant to be broken. I don't really believe that, I'm pretty much a rule-follower through and through, but maybe in this case they have a point. All of which is to say we have more to share from Ball of Wax 47: Songs of Resistance, and the fine folks at Folklife* are helping us do it. Next Sunday evening on the Vera Project stage, we will present a showcase featuring several of the artists from Ball of Wax 47. We will also have copies available for sale, and every single dollar we make will go straight to the NW Immigrant Rights Project. I strongly recommend buying multiple copies and/or overpaying for them.

But wait! There's more! The time has come to move on to Ball of Wax 48, and we're doing so on Saturday, June 3rd, at Conor Byrne. There are 15 songs on this volume, all of them sung in languages other than English. It's a wonder to behold, I tell ya, and you can follow the daily track unveilings over at the Blog of Wax. If you won't be able to join us at the show, please pick up a (digital or electronic) copy on Bandcamp. However it manifests, your support is appreciated; just the postage to get the artist copies to Europe is going to make this a much more expensive volume to put out than usual.

Resist! Learn a language!

Thank you for listening,

Levi

*While I'm hectoring you about supporting various things with your hard-earned dollars, please, oh please, go to the NW Folklife Festival and give generously when you walk through the gates. Or if you can't give generously give stingily, just give whatever you can, drop some dollars in the bucket on your way in. Skip one cubic foot of grease and fried potato matter and give it to Folklife. The only way they can keep this miraculous festival going is if people chip in.
