Balkan Heritage (BH) Field School (est. 2003), that is a legal part
of
Balkan Heritage Foundation, Bulgaria implements projects in the areas
of
study, protection, restoration and promotion of sites, artifacts and
practices presenting the cultural heritage of Southeastern Europe
with
participation of students, scholars and volunteers from all over the
World.

Three NEW Projects in 2009:
WORKSHOP FOR RESTORATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF
ANCIENT (Greek and Roman) POTTERY
Country: Bulgaria
September 7-19, 2009. The WORKSHOP will be hosted by both Regional
Museum of History in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria and Apollonia Pontica
excavation project in Sozopol on Black sea. It will guide the
participants through the history of ancient Greek and Roman pottery,
its
production and consequent stages of archaeological conservation,
documentation, study, and restoration.
A BYZANTINE COLD CASE FILE - EARLY CHRISTIAN MONASTERY -STRONGHOLD
EXCAVATIONS IN VARNA – SECOND SESSION
Country: Bulgaria
July 19 – August 2, 2009 (field school’s session dates). Excavation
of
an early Christian monastery-stronghol d next to Varna on Black sea.
“PAX ORTHODOXA” FIELD TRIP TO EASTERN SERBIA
October 3 - 14, 2009. The field trip envisions study visits (starting
from Sofia, Bulgaria) to 20-25 medieval Orthodox chapels, churches
and
monasteries as well as to some museums and archaeological sites in
Eastern Serbia.
